Anambra losses over N20 Million to transport cabals daily, says RTEAN

www.odogwublog.com reports that Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) has
alleged that between Twenty to Thirty Million naira is daily denied the state government in Anambra state and diverted by a group RTEAN referred to as road cabals.

On this note, RTEAN has advised the Anambra State government to engage the services of professional transporters to manage the parks in the State.

RTEAN said it is constitutionally empowered to take care of all road users, the use of non professionals that call themselves parks managers is unconstitutional as under their watch expected revenue due to government is lost.

Speaking to the press in Awka while appraising the administration of Governor Willie Obiano, the Anambra State Deputy Chairman of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria, Comrade Joseph Nwabueze lamented that under the cabal, the State is losing between twenty to thirty million naira on daily basis.

According to Comrade Nwabueze, Governor Willie Obiano who has touched the lives of the citizenry in all sectors of the economy especially in the areas of security, transformation of the Awka capital city and providing subsidized transportation for civil servants in the state should not stress himself on how to raise the state revenue with the park managers in operation, but should engage the services of a trade union like the RTEAN to handle the management of its parks to enhance the state revenue.

He assured that if the services of RTEAN are engaged, the double taxation of drivers which occasion the hike in transportation costs will be arrested.
