Rep’s house set ablaze in Ondo over election result

The residence of a member of the House of Representatives for Irele / Okitipupa Federal Constituency in Ondo State, Albert Akintoye, was set ablaze
by suspected political thugs in Akotogbo, Irele Local Government Area on Sunday as election results were announced.
Our correspondent gathered that the thugs arrived the scene with dangerous weapons expecting to meet the lawmaker at home.
The hoodlums, numbering about 12, broke into the house while firing gunshots and vandalised the property before setting it on fire.
Akintoye, who narrated his ordeal in Akure, said the thugs came for him but he was lucky to have left the town shortly after the results of the election was announced on Sunday morning.
According to him, he came to Akotogbo to participate in the House of Assembly election.
“When they could not find me in the house, they set the house ablaze and carted away valuable items,” Akintoye said.
Hon. Akintoye however accused a politician in Akotogbo and senior citizen in the state as brain behind the attack.
Although he said three persons had been arrested in connection with the incident, the Police Public Relations Office said he was yet to get briefing on the attack.
