The pan Igbo cultural group,
Ohanaeze Ndigbo has called for total cancellation of the
inconclusive
governorship poll in Abia State and urged INEC to conduct a fresh election.
National Publicity Secretary of
Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Okpalaukwu Okpalaezeukwu, while addressing
reporters in Awka yesterday, stated that reports gathered through
reliable sources, particularly members of Ohanaeze Integrity group and members
of EbubeAgu Ndigbo, confirmed that the Abia governorship election of April 11
2015, was marred by gross irregularities and unprecedented rigging.
He said total cancellation would
allow for time and security for free and acceptable election result of which
Ndigbo, Nigeria and Abia people would emerge multiple winners.
Okpalaezeukwu Emejulu, a legal
practitioner and PDP chieftain, commended APGA and Governor Willie Obiano for
sweeping the poll in Anambra State.
He said he had no regret working for
APGA in Anambra during the House of Assembly poll because APGA and PDP had only
one national leader in President Goodluck Jonathan.
He attributed the success recorded
by APGA in the Anambra House of Assembly election to the synergy and struggle
by the Igbo–Igalla Cultural Union in the state, who ensured through
their network that PDP was checkmated in their game plan to hijack the polls.
Though he sustained serious injury
in an auto crash while running around during the collation of results in the
election, Okpalaezeukwu said since PDP had already clinched the National
Assembly seats, it would be fair that APGA takes over the House of Assembly
seats in Anambra, so that the governor can have a harmonious working relationship
with the legislative arm of government.
