Go to Court, INEC Tells Losers...Issues Certificate of Return to Ubah, Ekwunife, Oduah, Others

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has issued certificate of return to candidates that emerged winner in the just concluded National Assembly election in

the state with a call on them to remember that victory comes from God.

The three senators elected under the platform of Peoples Democratic party, PDP include: Senator Andy Ubah, Hon. Uche Ekwunife and Princess Stella Adaeze Odua for Anambra South, Central and North respectively.

Others are the nine House of Representatives from the umbrella of PDP and two others elected under the platform of All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA.

It was observed that other winners were given certificate of return except Hon. Ben Nwankwo of Orumba North and South Federal Constituency for reasons yet to be disclosed by INEC.

While issuing them the certificate of return at INEC headquarters, Awka, the INEC National Commissioner in charge of Anambra State, Ambassador Lawrence Nwuruku told the winners that their victory is an act of God while calling on those who lost out to try again or go to court, rather than causing unnecessary panic and tension in the society.

Earlier in his remark, the state INEC REC, Mr. Edwin Nwatarali congratulated the winners for their victory at the poll, saying that they have no power to alter any result declared by returning officers following various petitions from some aggrieved candidates.
He however debunked the rumour making round that INEC compromised in the just concluded election and also called on the losers to challenge their claim in the court of competent jurisdiction.
Speaking on behalf of other candidates, Senator Andy Ubah thanked the electorates for giving them the opportunity to serve in the National Assembly and also thanked INEC for conducting free, fair and violence free election in Anambra state.
The former Governor of Anambra state, Mr. Peter Obi while fielding questions from journalists said the PDP victory is a well deserved one as they paraded the best candidates.
