BUHARI WILL NOT DISAPPOINT IGBOS
Ndigbo Unity Forum, an Igbo social
-political organization today the 6th of April, 2015 after a meeting
scheduled to discuss the outcome and transparency of the just concluded 2015
presidential election in Onitsha, Anambra State resolved to use this
medium to congratulate the president-elect and flag bearer of the All
Progressive Congress (APC), General Mohammadu Buhari.
We would like to refer to previous
publications by our organization NUF, ‘Jonathan has failed south east’ January
14, 2015 Punch newspaper and ‘Jonathan does not deserve second term’ February
1, 2015 Sun newspaper, ETC where we pointed out reasons why we are
convinced that President Goodluck Jonathan does not deserve a second term in
office. NUF is confident that the president-elect will give Nigerians the
desired change that will steer the economic and security situation towards the
right direction. We also want to assure Igbos that this new administration will
not undermine our collective interest so everyone needs to co-operate and make
our urgent needs known. This message also applies to our brothers in the
Niger-delta and to all the ex-militants that threatened to go back to the
creeks.
Our urgent demands:
1. Efforts
should be made to ensure that the second Niger Bridge is constructed as
scheduled.
2. Use
reputable persons from the eastern region in your government.
3. Give the
region one additional state to balance up as every other region in the country
has six states each and North West has seven states.
4. Reduce
accidents on our federal roads by constructing a dual since most of the roads
are currently single lane and in a state of disrepair.
5. Implement
the national confab report as this will help fortify our national unity.
