Anambra REC under pressure over CTCs

The Resident Electoral Commissioner in Anambra State, Edwin Natarali, is under
pressure following the inability of the Independent National Electoral Commission to commence the issuance of Certified True Copies of the results of March 28 National Assembly elections to applicants.
It was gathered that the REC had queried the operation officer over the issue.
Some of the candidates of the All Progressives Congress and All Progressive Grand Alliance had visited the INEC office on Monday to demand CTCs to enable them to commence legal actions, only to be disappointed.
The CTC problem was more pronounced in Ogbaru, Onitsha-North and Onitsha South, all in Anambra-North senatorial district.
Speaking with our correspondent, the INEC Public Relations Officer in the state Mr. Frank Egbo, denied the allegation that the commission was deliberately withholding the CTCS.
He said that the issuance of CTC was based on ‘first come, first serve,’ adding that the basis, delay was as a result the heavy work load in the commission.
He said that with time the problem would ease off as the commission had applied for more workers from the headquarters.
