With few days to go
into the long awaited general elections, another Igbo group, the Igbozue International
Association both home and in Diaspora has endorsed President
Goodluck Ebele
Jonathan for yet another four (4) years tenure, describing the nation’s number
one citizen as the President with positive vision for Nigeria, noting that he
has moved Nigeria strategically in the league of nations.
The endorsement, according
to the President of the central Igbo group, Elder Pius Okoye was as a result of
the giant stride of Dr. Jonathan was considered after their extra-ordinary
National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the association held in Awka,
Anambra State Capital yesterday, where they viewed the stay of Mr. President as
a period of reconciling all the aggrieved groups in Nigeria.
Commending Dr. Goodluck
Jonathan for what he has done for Igbo race and the development of the South East
by extension, Igbozue International Association however calls on every Nigerian
to join hands in reciprocating the man said to have changed the nation’s
economy for good.
On the nation’s
insecurity, Elder Okoye said there is no developed nation in the world that
never crossed what Nigeria is passing through, urging Nigerians to join hands
in fighting the insurgence in some of the states in the northern Nigeria.
Reacting, Mr. Victor
Omameh, the Chairman of Igboezue International Association, United States of
America, commended President Goodluck for his humanitarian projects scatted
across the nation. In his words; “You’re Excellency, please, do continue with
your spirited acts towards the Nigerian people, most especially those who live
below poverty. You have continuously shown yourself as the people’s leader and
we are all so grateful for it” he said.
Filtering answers to
questions from the newsmen after the meeting, the national patron of the
association, Barrister Harold Ekwerekwu, described President Goodluck Jonathan
as dynamic, pragmatic person, stating that his agricultural programme has made
available food in every table in Nigeria, therefore making Nigeria a known
cassava producing nation of the world.
