www.odogwublog.com reports that the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has urged its regular and special marshals to shun bribery and un-creativeness in order to build on the capacity of service delivery to the public.
The
out-going FRSC Zonal Commander, Mr Charles Akpabio, said his during a thank-you
and farewell meeting with all FRSC officials in Anambra, which was held in Awka
on Monday.
Akpabio,
who was in-charge of Zone 5 comprising of Anambra, Delta and Edo States, noted
that when ``a case of bribery is reported, established after investigation, the
marshal concerned will be summarily dismissed’’.
He
noted that the new corps being driven by the Corps Marshal, Mr Boboye Oyeyemi,
had zero tolerance for bribery and idleness; noting: ``However, the Corps
Marshal will go to any length to reward hard work and creativity’’.
The
out-going zonal commander urged the FRSC officers and men to be courtesy and
polite while dealing with the public.
``I
want you to ownership of this job; work as if you are the commander here and
take charge as well as initiatives without waiting for your superiors to direct
you.
``I
want you all to rededicate yourself to reduction of road traffic crashes to 20
per cent, reducing fatality rate by 30 per cent and the increase in number of
people rescued alive by 50 per cent, which are our national target this year.
``I
know you can do it; since we moved from the 5th position on the FRSC
Yearly Performance Chart to number now; you use the same zeal to achieve the
national target in Anambra and this zone,’’ he advised.
Responding,
the FRSC Anambra Sector Commander, Mr Sunday Ajayi, thanked Akpabio for the
hard work, innovations and mentorship he had instilled in the zone; thus making
the zone to be ranked first in the 2013 and 2014 FRSC Performance Chart.
``Just
as I described him; his coming to Zone RS. 5 turned around everything. Consecutively,
the zone was first, 2013, 2014; that shows that he has something.
``And
what it has shown is that he has a spirit of achieving or to achieve and he
don’t look back.
``The
zonal commanding officer as a person does not take no for an answer and he does
not believe that there is something impossible to achieve.
``When
ever he mentions it, he takes steps, he doesn’t look back, he follows it up.
And I believe with that (spirit); and we are going to retain it,’’ he said.
Ajayi
as well as top officers, regular and special marshals in Anambra assured
Akpabio that they would work relentlessly to retain the overall performance of
FRSC Zones for 2015.
The
FRSC currently have 12 zones across the entire country.
It
was gathered that Akpabio had been posted to Zone 2, Lagos; where he previously
served as a State Sector Commander before being promoted and coming
to Zone 5, which have its headquarters in Benin, Edo State.
Highlights
of the occasion was the presentation of the trophy and plague of victory given
to the zone by the Corps Marshal, Mr Boboye Oyeyemi as well as a group
photograph of Akpabio with FRSC top officers, regular and special marshals in
Anambra. (END)
