reports that the former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi
and some members
of Actors Guild of Nigeria, AGN have appealed to the electorate in Anambra
North Senatorial Zone to vote massively for Princess Stella Oduah, former
Minister of Aviation and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP
contesting the senatorial seat of the zone.
Obi who spoke at a grand finale
rally organized by Princess Oduah Campaign Organization, yesterday at the All
Saints Anglican Church Cathedral Field, Onitsha, said Oduah is the only person
who can bulldoze her way in the Senate chambers and fight for the peoples
rights.
Obi contended that Oduah has all it
takes to development the area and empower the people if she becomes the senator
representing Anambra North Senatorial zone which he described as the most
important zone, East of the Niger, where the largest market in Africa is
located and food basket area located.
According to Obi, "going to the
Senate is not equivalent to taking chieftaincy title. Senate is not an all
comers affair. It is a place where intellectuals gather and make laws for the
masses. It is better to send someone like Oduah who knows Abuja terrain very
well than sending someone who will go there and start learning the terrain".
He recalled that Oduah had proved
her mettle when she was the Aviation minister by renovating all our local
airports and attracting an international airport for us here in the South East
zone, adding that she was equally instrumental to the rehabilitation of
Onitsha/Atani/Ossomala/Ogwuikpele road, as well as for securing approval for
Anambra Cargo Airport.
In his speech, Yul Edochie, a
Nollywood actor who stepped into the podium with many other actors, appealed to
the electorate to vote for Oduah because of many lives she had touched in the
past and present and those she would touch in the future.
Responding, Oduah promised that if
voted into power, she would attract the benefit of SURE-P, U-WIN, G-WIN and
other federal government empowerment programmes which are in existence but do
not get down to the masses in the zone, as a result of poor representation.
She then launched a talent hunt
aimed at fishing out talented sports men and women, actors, musicians and
footballers for sponsorship, home and abroad training up to the maturity level.
