Anambra CP commends Obiano over traffic stands ---Says Police is determined to provide better services to road users
www.odogwublog.com reports that the
Commissioner of Police in Anambra, Mr Hassan Karma has assured that the command
was determined to provide better services to road users in the state.
Karma gave
the assurance at a one-day training workshop on “Importance of Traffic Control
and Management” organized for Divisional Traffic Officers (DTOs) of the command
in Awka on Wednesday.
According
to him, the state government has done so much for the police and the only way
we can reciprocate that gesture is to serve the people better.
“The
governor has procured traffic stands with solar lights to assist the police in
traffic control and has assisted with vehicles and other logistics.
“In order
to enhance traffic control therefore, we have decided to embark on the
retraining of traffic officers for effective traffic control and management,” the
commissioner explained.
He noted
that the DTOs were expected to impact the same knowledge on other personnel
within their divisions.
Karma used
the medium to call on road users to cooperate with the traffic officers by
obeying all traffic rules and regulations.
The
commissioner also charged the traffic officers to exercise patience and
accommodate road users with understanding.
In a
lecture titled “Improving Traffic Control and Management,” Deputy Commissioner
of Police, DCP Fimihan Adeoye, charged the officers to carry out their duties
with passion.
“We are
not disputing the fact that we don’t have all we need to discharge our duties,
but we can ensure effective combination of the available human and material
resources to achieve a set goal,” he said.
Adeoye
also harped on the effective enforcement of the various provisions of the road
traffic regulations, effective traffic control and how to prevent accidents.
One of the
participants, Deputy Superintendent of Police, DSP Ignatius Ugwuagbo, in-charge
of Central Police Station, Awka, lauded the command for providing the training.
“It will
help improve upon our knowledge of road traffic control, safety and as well
bring back the image of traffic officers in good light,” Ugwuagbo said.
