The Joint
Task force led by Assistant Commissioner of Police in-charge of Operations, AC
Ops Joseph Agugoesi , yesterday morning raided the notorious Mkpukpa forest by
Chidera road Okpoko, near Onitsha arresting miscreants purportedly troubling he
peace of Onitsha residents.
At the
forest , www.odogwublog.com gathered strange discoveries were made including
shallow graves with one containing a two weeks old baby that was still fresh,
all sorts of bags and school bags allegedly snatched from passers bye and
students thinking they were carrying money.
Other
items discovered in the forest were shrines of different colour and hue as well
as shanties meant to be residents of the miscreants purportedly disturbing the
peace of the state.
The
shrines and shanties were pulled down by the bulldozers and leveled by the
joint task force comprising of all the security agents in the state comprising
the Navy, Military, Police and Nigeria Security and Civil Defense (NSCD) as
well as the Nigerian Custom.
They
arrested five miscreants but later released them after discovering they were
not the main target with a warning to sin no more and shun the forest unless
they have genuine reasons to be there even as the police has called on all the
miscreants in the state including unauthorized groups to ensure peace or vacate
the state as nothing unlawful from them would be tolerated.
When
contacted , the Anambra state Police command PPRO , Uche Ezeh confirmed the
raid , insisting that the raid was to weed off the unwanted elements in the
state to avoid being used to cause confusion in the state during the February
elections.
He said
the raid is ongoing but refused to comment further on the discoveries in the
forest adding,’’ we would brief the press on that ‘ but I can confirm to you we
arrested five people and later released them with a warning to sin no
more since they were not the main targets of the raid.
He said the raid has exposed what
was going on in the forest and they would be more vigilance now around that
zone even as he confirmed also that the shanties and shrines in the forest were
destroyed by the police bulldozer.
But www.odogwublog.com, can authoritatively report that the shallow graves were real and
discovered with one containing a two weeks old baby.
