Bishop Ezeonyia's Death : Bishop Ezeokafor Commiserates With Aba Catholic Diocese

The Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese , His Lordship Most Rev. Paulinus Ezeokafor gas commiserated with the Priests, Religious and entire Catholic faithful of Aba Diocese over the demise of their bishop , His Lordship Most Rev. Vincent Valentine Ezeonyia CSSP

who passed on on Sunday February 8 2015 at the age 74.

Bishop Ezeokafor who stated this in his condolence message said the Bishop who was ill for a short period was said to be receiving sound medical attention in an undisclosed hospital before the unfortunate incidence.

Bishop Ezeokafor who said he received the news of Bishop Ezeonyia's death with as a rude shock and sadness urged the Catholic faithful of Aba Diocese to took solace on the fact that the late Bishop lived a good and quiet life while on earth.

He enjoined them to continue to pray for the quick repose of his soul .' On behalf of the Auxiliary Bishop of Awka Diocese, His Lordship Most Rev. Jonas Benson Okoye; the Priests ,the Religious and the entire lay faithful of Awka Diocese , I say accept our deepest and sincere condolences,' Bishop Ezeokafor said.

According to sources, Bishop Ezeonyia took ill on Thursday last week and was rushed to an undisclosed hospital in Owerri, the Imo State capital where he was said to have died on Sunday morning of undisclosed ailment.
In accordance with Catholic rites, Bishop Ezeonyia, whose body had been deposited in a morgue, would be interred on February 27 at the Bishops’ Vault, Christ the King Catholic Church (CKC), Aba.
Ezeonyia, who was in his 70s was appointed the first Bishop of Aba Diocese of the Catholic Church in 1991 when it was carved out from the Umuahia Diocese and had held sway until his death on Sunday.
As pioneer Bishop, Ezeonyia was said to have superintended over the development and expansion of the Catholic Church in the Aba Diocese, creating new parishes and appointing new priests.
Under the late Bishop Ezeonyia’s watch, CKC, Aba headquarters of the Dioceses was greatly transformed with many structures springing up within a short period.
