The All Progressives Congress,
APC, in Ekiti State has condemned the sack of 180 workers in Ekiti State House
of Assembly by the management of the assembly
180 workers of the assembly who
were wrongly recruited by the last administration had their letters of
appointment terminated on Wednesday
Reacting to the development in
Ado Ekiti yesterday, the Publicity Secretary, Taiwo Olatubosun,in a statement
condemned the decision, saying, “Fayose who claimed to be workers friendly
could resort to sacking the same workers.
“It is becoming clearer by the
day that Governor Fayose had conned Ekiti workers into believing that he is
their friend only to start making life miserable for them after securing their
support.”
Olatubosun noted that the
affected staff were duly employed by the House of Assembly Service Commission
with statutory approval since April 2014 with their conditions of service
clearly stated, wondering how such workers could be summarily sacked by
announcement immediately after the New Year interdenominational service without
following civil service rules.
He said Olugbemi did not have
such powers to sack employees of the House of Assembly Service
Olugbemi warns Omirin
Meantime, the factional Speaker
of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Hon. Dele Olugbemi, has cautioned the
embattled speaker, Dr. Adewale Omirin against dragging members of the National
Assembly into committing contempt of court by requesting their intervention in
the crisis that is currently rocking the assembly
Omirin had told newsmen at his
Aisegba country home Wednesday that all the PDP lawmakers in the assembly have
sought the intervention of the members of the House of Representatives on the
crisis in the assembly
Olugbemi said it was too late for
the APC to look for alternative mode of solving the problem created by them
,since they are presently in court over the same issue
