The controversy over Ayamelum constituency is still generating
tension and www.odogwulog.com brings you
the petition from CLO in that regards:
The Executive Governor,
Anambra State of Nigeria,
Government House,
Oka.
Your Excellency.
The Civil Liberties Organisation (CLO) is in
receipt of a petition from one Mr. Onyimonyi John Egbunike, the Declared Winner
of the House of Assembly Primaries on the platform of your party, All
Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Ayamelu State Constituency held December
3rd, 2014.
The result of the said elections, the DSS and INEC
reports show that Mr. Omonyimonyi Egbunike won the elections with 51 votes as
against APGA's preferred candidate, Mr. Uche Okafor, who polled 22 votes
in the election that had no controversy. The reason for APGA's decision to
fraudulently and illegally abort the democratic will of the electorate freely
expressed at the freely, fairly and credibly conducted polls is a great source
of worries to the CLO.
Sir, we hugely suspect that you may not
be aware of this injustice and rape of democracy done by your party for
whatever reason hence our resort to this letter as before. A man who ran for
election and woefully failed cannot be said to be a better candidate in all
ramifications and CLO feels that time has come, and that time, is now when both
state actors and the citizens alike must begin to play the game according
to the rules and respect popular decisions as in this case in
order that our country and people may be respected in the comity of global
nations. The impunity and lawlessness in our land today, worse than what
we experienced under the military, is really a source of monumental
worry and concerns to us at the CLO.
Sir, CLO requests you to urgently intervene in the
matter and use your good offices as the national leader of the party to
ensure that the wrong, the injustice and the fraud are redressed and Mr.
Onyimonyi John Egbunike, declared as the Winner of the election. We demand
that his Certificate of Return issued to him and his name sent to
INEC as the duly elected Candidate of APGA in the February, 2015 general
elections.
We would have gone public to inform the world of
this grave injustice but for the respect we have for your government so far for
its avowed war against crime in Anambra state that has become a model being
copied by others and the way you handled the case of one Mrs. Gloria
Nneka Ezeani, Anaocha 11 constituency earlier protested by us.
Your Excellency, CLO makes bold to
say that where our complaint is treated with ignominy, we will have no
other option than to embark on any lawful process that will cause
justice to be done in the case and expose the frauds in your party.
Merry Christmas in Advance.
Yours Sincerely,
Comrade, Ibuchukwu Ohabuenyi Ezike,
Executive Director,
Civil Liberties Organisation (CLO).
