Political
stakeholders in Awka South local government area of Anambra state yesterday
adopted Member representing Anaocha/Dunukofia/ Njikoka federal constituency,
Hon Uche Ekwunife as their senatorial candidate.
The stakeholders
made this known at the palace of Hon Vincent Okafor , JP(General) , a former
Peoples Democratic Party Chairman Anambra state at Nise, Awka South local
government area.
Speaker after speaker hammered that Hon
Ekwunife , Chairman House Committee on Environment really did well as a member
of House of Representatives and should be supported to be in the Upper house as
she would do better than other candidates including Senator Chris Ngige and
Chief Victor Umeh.
www.odogwublog.com reports that Ngige is
the current member in the senate and was a former Governor of the state while Umeh
is the National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
President General of
Nise Town Union and Chairman of Nice Microfinance Bank, Sir Chris Onoh
emphasized that Ekwunife did resoundingly well as a member of the House of
Representatives with her feats and achievements scattered in the three local
governments under her constituency.
For the host, Hon Vincent
Okafor ,former member of Lower Niger River Basin Authority Board and National President/Corps
General of Organization Nigerian Chaplains, a para-military organization of
which former President Obasanjo is the grand patron, Ekwunife is the bomb and
nobody can beat her in that election.
Okafor reminded that
of the 11 members in the House of
Representatives from Anambra , only two members speak at the floor including
Ekuwnife and Hon Forth Dike but Iyom, as Ekwunife is addressed has contact and
mobilization across board at the national level.
He said Ekwunife
would defeat Ngige, and Umeh or any other candidate at the polls and urged the
people to vote her as well as other PDP candidates in all the election in
accordance with the plea of President Goodluck Jonathan who of course they
would vote massively for. He said no woman had worked hard like Iyom hence she
developed her constituency beyond imagination. He donated a bill board to Iyom’s
campaign as well as cash and bags of rice to support her campaign.
Responding, Iyom
Uche Ekwunife said she is not afraid of Umeh, Ngige or any other as her achievements
and personal touch would give her the edge over other candidates and appealed
to the stakeholders to vote her in as she would be a ranking senator if elected.
Ekwunife insisted
that there would be confusion with the electorates if demands are made for separate
votes for President Jonathan and for other contestants in PDP as she urged them
to vote only PDP candidates.
She appreciated Hon
Vincent Okafor for spending for her campaign especially both Cash and bags of rice he donated to the
Nise ward one and two in support of her campaign.
Ekwunife reminded
them that politics is about investment and she is canvassing for their votes
because their investment won’t be a waste
In his remarks, a
House of Assembly candidate for Awka South , Felix Bishop Iloanya described
Iyom as a moving train that nobody can stop, adding that she has already won
the election.
Highlight was presentation
of award of Excellence as Best female performing legislator in Nigeria by organization
of Nigeria chaplains National President, Hon Vincent Okafor, JP.
