The Anambra State
Chairman of the Nigerian Region, Major Gabriel Anyibuaku (RTD) has lampooned
the federal and state governments for neglecting the plights of Ex-Servicemen
and former Biafran Soldiers in the country.
Major Anyibuaku, spoke
with www.odogwublog.com in Awka,
shortly after celebrating this year's "Arm-forces remembrance day.
He said,’’ that the
government at all levels abandoned his people to rot and die without care since
termination of civil war’’.
According to the retired
Major, while lots of Ex-Servicemen and Biafran warriors join their ancestors on
daily basis sequel to poverty and starvation rocking their various homes, most
of their children remain dropouts till date.
He further denied what
he termed "media reported compensation of N1.6 million naira" the
federal government of Nigeria, and N64 million naira, the former Governor Peter
Obi allegedly doled to the group for the purpose of catering for their welfare.
"Where is the
money? I read about them on the print and broadcast media but I am yet to
receive them till date. Had it been we got the sum, all us would have been
better fed for. This is why majority feared to register with us", he said.
He therefore appealed to
Governor Willie Obiano, President Goodluck Jonathan and spirited individuals in
the country to come to their rescue as a matter of immediacy rather than
commemorating their death.
