The family of Okeke Okorie Afaama in Omogho, Orumba North local government area of Anambra state is under threat of extinction as a strange disease is killing, crippling and rendering the family helpless.
www.odogwublog.com exclusively reports that the unknown ailment already has claimed two members of the family Isaac and Sunday Okeke and another two are now completely paralyzed.

The ailment is yet to be identified by both medical practitioners and unorthodox practitioners but it is indeed tormenting the family, killing them
at the age of 15 and above.

The two surviving brothers, Emeka Okeke, 35and Uchenna Okeke, 28, are already victims but are still hopeful to survive the ailment. They recounted their ordeal while lying helpless at their sick bed.

The stress of the Okeke’s is creating panic and confusion in Omogho and has thrown their family in penury. They lamented that their brothers have gone to the
world beyond sequel to the disease.
But, their hope to survive is still strong and they counted on prominent citizens of the state including the wife of Anambra state Governor, Chief Mrs Eberechukwu Obiano, and husband the State governor, Chief Willie Obiano, National Chairman of All Progressives Grand Alliance, (APGA) Chief Victor Umeh.
They appealed specially to Dr Alex Ekwueme , the former Vice President of Nigeria and Senator Andy Uba as well as his brothers Senator Ugochukwu Uba and Chief Chris Uba to come to their rescue. They remembered Hon Ben Nwankwo of the National Assembly as well all the prominent citizens of Old Aguata not to abandon them.

Meanwhile,  a letter titled; Re: Mr Emeka Okeke and Mr Uchenna Okeke, dated
10th May 2010 from the managing Director of Best Hospital, Oko in Orumba North local government
area of Anambra state, Dr C.C Okoye to the Consultant Medical Unit, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital, Nnewi painted a gloomy picture of their ailment as he claimed it defied all medical solution.
Okoye noted that all efforts made in treating them had failed as both parents are
dead and their siblings are financially constrained. He informed that the physical examination revealed wasting of muscles of limbs, sparing the trucial and facial muscles.

But, Mr Emeka Okeke and his brother Mr Uchenna Okeke said they suffered weak limbs and arm at age 13 when the ailment started and therefore had difficulties in using their legs and their hands sequel to the weakness of the muscles.

This strange ailment, they claimed, only affected male siblings of the
family as all the four male in their family were affected. Two had
died at age of 25 and 30 and two remaining. Even as they said their
parents did not die of the ailment.

In the words of Emeka, “Before I found myself into this condition that has almost ruined my life, I have been a radio repairer. Sometimes it seems like there is
no hope. We've already sold virtually everything we have in the cause
of finding solutions to this disease, and when there was nothing to
sell, we borrowed money from neighbours to continue but now we are
tired and no money to eat even food. We always hope for some miracle
to cure us.

‘We are now living on peoples mercy but our survival is in God’s hand
and that is why we are appealing to the state government especially to
the wife of the governor, Mrs Obiano through her pet project to touch
our lives.

“We have heard so many things her Excellency is doing for vulnerable
children and less privileged in this state. Our condition is getting
worse every day and we seem to have been abandoned, we need God’s
intervention ‘’.

When www.odogwublog.com concluded that the ailment defied a medical terminology, Emeka volunteered a word’’ Vein failure’’ which he claimed was what a family doctor identified the ailment as even as he claimed the doctor said they needed so much money for its treatment.  They appealed for assistance from spirited individuals to enable them under take the treatment as they would not be able to afford the medical bills. They also claimed there is need to avoid their lineage being wiped from the community as reasons they are requesting for assistance.

And should their plea come to you so appealing, they are requesting for a free will donation via his bank account number Okeke Emmanuel Emeka , Account Number 4652137522 , Ecobank or their telephone number 08064713546 and 08165871977.
