Rivers State Governor, Chibuike
Amaechi and the All Progressives Congress (APC) have been lauded over consensus
governorship aspirant for the 2015 general elections in the state.
The commendation came from the
Youths and Students Wing of the Eastern Delta Peoples Association (EDPA), who
congratulated the member representing the people of Andoni/Opobo/Nkoro Federal
Constituency at the National Assembly, Dakuku Peterside, on his emergence as
the sole aspirant of the party in the state.
Spokesman of the group, Mr. Kingsley
Pepple, made the commendation while addressing newsmen in Port Harcourt,
saying: “We thank the governor and leader of the APC in Rivers State and the
defender of Rivers people, Chibuike Amaechi, for, once again, exhibiting
before the entire people of the state and the country his courage, sense of
equity and love for peace among his people.
“Having considered the continued
occupation of the Rivers Brick House by our brothers from the upland extraction
for 16 years, it is, in deed, just to support a candidate of the riverine
extraction to take over the mantle of leadership in Rivers State in 2015.”
Also appreciated were the leaders
and stakeholders of the APC for answering the call of the riverine communities
under the auspices of the EDPA, led by Elder Lawrence Jumbo and that of the
elder statesmen of Rivers State under the leadership of Chief Albert Horsfall.
The group assured the leadership and
members of the APC of the support of the youths and students of the Ijaw ethnic
nationality.
The spokesman appealed for
understanding and support of the people of the Ogoni Nation to embrace the
emergence of Peterside as an act of God and not a deliberate ploy to disregard
the political relevance of the people of the Ogoni Ethnic Nationality.
