Anambra State Deputy Governor, Dr. Nkem Okeke, may resign any moment from now if necessary action is not taken to address his grievances.

Odogwublog.com gathered that Okeke had complained to the leadership of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), traditional rulers, the clergy and other stakeholders are being sidelined in the running of the state.
According to a source, the deputy governor was, upon assumption of office in March this year, banned via a memo from the office of the governor, from addressing the press without official clearance from the governor’s office.
Besides, the source said Okeke was not happy the way the initial blueprint designed to run the state prior to their swearing in was thwarted and jettisoned by Governor Willie Obiano and a different agenda put in place with impurity and absolutism. It was also gathered that what may permanently severe the relationship between the governor and his deputy, is the recent altercation between their wives at a church service.
“Trouble started on Sunday, November 16, 2014, after the dedication of the child of the Anglican Bishop of Awka at the Cathedral of St. Faith, Awka. According to a source, “the wife of the deputy governor had complained to Dr. Alex Ekwueme on how Mrs. Obiano was not carrying her along in whatever she was doing.
“Desirous of brokering peace, Ekwueme’s wife, Beatrice accosted Mrs. Obiano and advised her on the need to carry everybody along, especially the wife of the deputy governor. “At this point, Mrs. Obiano flared up, claiming that the constitution recognises her and not the wife of the deputy. “It took the intervention of security men to prevent the duo from engaging in a brawl…”
It was gathered that some government officials and the hierarchy of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), who witnessed the incident were simply dumbfounded. But an insider said the deputy governor had told everybody who would want to listen that he would no longer take such ‘rot’ from anybody.
Okeke, a lecturer in the Department of Economics, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, before his recent position, had once resigned as commissioner for finance in the early days of former Governor Peter Obi’s administration, based on principles.
When contacted, Media Assistant to the Deputy Governor, Mrs. Stella Igboka, said the governor and his deputy still maintains cordial relationship, stressing that the story about their purported strain in relation was not true.
