Tension in Government House over 7 days Ultimatum From Igwe Kelly To Royal Fathers That Forged His Signature

There is disquiet in Anambra state Government House over who was the brain behind the alleged forgery of the signature of the Traditional ruler of Igbariam , Anambra East local government area , Igwe Nkoli. N Kelly in an advert purportedly placed in the national daily, not Odogwu Media throwing support to Governor Willie Obiano.

This is sequel to a 7 days ultimatum Igwe Nkelly slammed on those who allegedly forged his signature after a traditional rulers meeting which he never attended to publicly apologize to him or face litigations.
Briefing newsmen on the alleged forgery of his signature, Igwe Nkelly regretted that a forged signature was credited to him.
“I vehemently condemn the use of a forged signature to credit to my name in a meeting I did not even attend and could not have contributed to the purported communiqué’’.
He insisted that he would not let go such an embarrassment which he described as a royal fraud as he is ready to challenge them in the court.
He further said, “I am a traditional ruler, highly respected by my subjects and I do everything possible to provide good and responsible leadership to the people of the Okalakwu Kingdom, any attempt therefore by any person or group of persons to rubbish my image and that of the Okalakwu kingdom I represent will be resisted”.

Igwe Nkelly said there is nothing wrong by traditional rulers having meeting in search for peace and for a way forward in the state, he said, “but forging signatures of royal fathers to achieve a course no matter how genuine, is a criminal act that should be condemned by all and sundry”.

According to him, "through my contact person who was present at the meeting it was even revealed that the subject matter was not even raised in the meeting for discussion” adding, “if some traditional rulers could forge the signatures of their fellow royal fathers, then what message do we pass  down to our subject”.

“How on earth did they come about the signatures and what are the motives behind this act” we quarried.

The purported signature he said was signed on 28th October 2014 was aimed at endorsing governor Willie Obiano as the gubernatorial candidate of the monarchs during the recent election in the state.

Expressing surprise, he stated, “I am surprised that till now the highly respected chairman of the council of Anambra traditional rulers, His Royal Majesty, Nnaemeka Achebe, Obi of Onitsha, has not reacted to this Royal fraud that is capable of tarnishing the image of traditional rulers in Anambra state”.

“As custodians of tradition and the conscience of the people, we should not be dragged in to such fraudulent- display in the interest of peace” he urged.

Reiterating to drag them to court, "he called on all the traditional rulers whose signatures were forged to speak up and condemn this criminal act otherwise the highly revered royal stool in Anambra state and indeed Igboland would be reduce to nothing"
He said that such apology to be tendered by those behind the forgery should also be published in the Sun newspaper where the purported signature was inserted.

Igwe Nkelly warned, “I hereby give the architects of this fraud seven days from now to apologize to me and the entire Okalakwu kingdom in writing otherwise I will have no other option than to seek redress in the law court”.
