Anambra state, Governor, Chief
Willie Obiano has vowed to continue to put measures in place aimed at flushing
out criminals from the state.
He spoke yesterday at the Onitsha
Bridge-Head while inaugurating members of a new security team in the state
known as “Operation Sheeb’’ to decongest the state roads.
Obiano said, “it has become
imperative to intensify the war against criminals in the state as the current
“Operation Mkpochapu” which was inaugurated on assuming office a few months ago
has yielded positive results”.
He later inspected the new
“Operation Sheeba” team made up of men from the Navy, Police, Civil Defence
Corps, NDLEA, and a complementary effort of the military stated that the new
state security outfit would complement the wonderful effort of “Operation
Mkpochapu”.
He emphasized further the need for
people to continue to support the good work of the security operation as it has
attracted huge investments worth over 300 million Dollars to the state.
He revealed that about three hundred
million Dollars have so far been spent on the agricultural sector by some
reputable world class agricultural firm in the state, adding that such exercise
wouldn’t have taken place without the enviable security network available in
the state.
Chairman of Onitsha North Local
Government, Barr. Douglas Nwachukwu Egbuna and the governor’s Senior Special
Adviser on Youths Mobilization, Comrade Chinedu Obidigwe both showered
encomiums on the state governor for his wonderful innovations to contain
criminal activities in the state and assured that his agricultural policies
would reduce crime and hunger as youths would now engage in commercial
agricultural ventures to support themselves and their families, thereby
reducing the rate of crime commission across the state.
