Ex- Council Boss got commendation for patching Potholes on public roads

Former transition committee chairman of Idemili North Local Government 
Area, Barrister Ralph Nnabuife Asha got some commendations for using his personal resources to patch up potholes on public roads. 

The potholes Nnabuife  Asha worked on were over 29 in number including  10 along Nkpor/Umuoji /Nnobi road, 5 along Ngige/ Afor Nkpor by
pass, 4 along Obosi road, 4 along Ugwunwasike/ Abatete and 5 along
Nkpor Junction/Ogidi road among others reports Odogwu Blog.

The potholes are located on the ever busy roads like Nkpor
junction/Umuoji/Nnobi, Obosi/Nkpor Junction, Ngige/Afor-Nkpor by-pass road and Nkpor Junction/Ugwunwasike road.

The commendation came from  Mr. Nwachukwu Mbaneme from Umuoji  came thus, “this pothole here, opposite Amater Amabilis Girls
Secondary School Umuoji, has sent so many to permanent deformity”. 


“In fact God will keep Asha for us, almost every time especially in the night, we will be hearing sounds of explosion and when we come out it will be fatal accident as a result of auto crash caused by this pothole”, he said.

On his part,  Rev. Chinonso Okeke, Vicar in charge of St. Marks Anglican
church, Nkpor –Uno, said it was a life saving efforts, adding , “I am not surprise  that he is doing the road by working on the potholes, he is a philanthropist and a workaholic right from when he was in the council as the chairman, he is God-sent”




But addressing newsmen after the repair work on the roads, Asha explained why he embarked on the rehabilitation thus,  “because of the constant accidents that occur on these roads on daily basis, I decided to save lives by working on the potholes”.

“As you can see we are refilling the pot holes with gravels, concrete stones and tarred them so that these spots where the accidents occurred will not re-occur”.

“You know we are approaching the Christmas and New Year periods and the roads will be busy. So I have to work on them to have a smooth journey for the holiday makers. I am working it by myself, it is personal money that I am using and am not here to disclose how much but I know they run into millions”.  


“For some time now nightlife has eluded the people in the State so the aim also is to restore nightlife”.

He said he was worried by the incessant auto crashes on the said roads caused by the potholes scattered all over the roads, hence he resolved to use his personal  resources to hire labourers to patching the pot holes in  Idemili North and South Local Government Areas of the state.

Asha , a lawyer expressed satisfaction that with the repair of the roads he has saved some souls who would have died untimely.

He appealed to other philanthropists and the wealthy in the society to emulate his kind gesture.
