Anambra Begs Tuberculosis Patients To show up , treats 40 at no cost



Idemili North tuberculosis Volunteer Committee, Anambra State announced yesterday that it has given free treatment to no fewer than 40 tuberculosis patients in the council area, calling on victims to show up for free medication. 


He added that the era of stigmatization is over and that anybody with symptoms like , blood gushing out as one coughs, slimming and lose of weight should report for examination reports Odogwu Blog.

"Within two weeks of constant coughing the patient should rush to any of our dot centres for treatment and we assure him that he will be cured, don’t say you don’t have money because it is free – of – charge so don’t die out of ignorance, rush now and be saved these sponsors have paid for these drugs to help humanity", he revealed        

The committee chairman, Hon. Christopher Ogham  who disclosed this to newsmen at the council headquarters at Ogidi said that efforts have been intensified to increase the number of patients to be treated.

He said, "tuberculosis patients should come to our dot centres scattered all over the area like Iyi-Enu hospital Ogidi, Immaculate sisters hospital Nkopr, Obosi ward 2, Eziowelle, council headquarters, Ogidi and Crown hospital Nkpor".

“We are begging the three tiers of government to provide us with more dot centres to help get closer to the patients door steps".

He expressed satisfaction with the sponsors of the programme especially the Global fund, hinting that it has been able to alleviate the health problem of the tuberculosis patients by contributing to their free drug treatment.

“We also have other sponsors like Family and Reproductive Health, Federal Ministry of  Health, State Ministry of Health and Idemili North Local Government 
Area".

"The NGO’s also contribute a lot and we commend some of them like Udo Women and Save Our World, including the local Government TB supervisor for their invaluable assistance".

Ogham revealed that the committee has carried awareness campaign to churches, market places, motor parks, and eateries, adding that its next port of call would be private schools.
