The traditional ruler of Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area, Anambra State, Igwe Chidubem Iweka hinted yesterday that prior to the arrival of Governor Willie Obiano that the state was besieged by kidnappers, armed robbers and assassins which resulted in some people refusing to return home during Christmas and other celebrations’ period.
According to him when Governor Obiano took over the mantle of leadership his priority was to fight the violent crimes to submission adding that today the hoodlums have been wiped out.
Speaking at the official opening of the secretariat of the Awada Obosi Central landlords Association, Igwe Iweka said, “for a very long time kidnapping, armed robbery and assassination become the order of the day, the state was under the siege of the kidnappers”.
“It was a terrible situation before Obiano came on board. Now we can sleep with our two eyes closed because the Governor has restored security in the state. Upper Iweka that was notorious is now calm and people move about freely”, he stressed.
He urged the resident and people of Awada Obosi to always pay their tax to enable both the local and state Government develop their area.
He commended the chairman of Idemili North council Area, Hon. Emma Idemobi for mapping out Mgbenena and Nwaziki roads for rehabilitation.
It is not a coincident that we have people like Governor Obiano and Idemobi working together to develop the state.
He charged the Landlords Association to ensure proper maintenance of the clinic in their secretariat and pay the staff.
Earlier, the chairman of the association, chief Sam Mendu stressed the need for the resident to pay their taxes to government for the development of their area.
He commended the Landlords association led by Chief, Patrick Oyeduba for the building of the secretariat
