Jonathan, Obiano Task Ebonyi State Indigenes In Anambra To Promote Peaceful Co-existence , Distributes Keke Na Pepe To Members

President Goodluck Jonathan has tasked Ebonyi people to be supportive of his administration by being peaceful and patriotic. He encouraged them to shun inter tribal and inter communal war in any form but to follow peace with their neigbours despite the level of provocation.

Jonathan spoke in a goodwill message to the Ebonyi State indigenes during the inauguration/installation of the National Executive Committee cum investiture of patrons/ distinguish members of Ebonyi Indigenes Welfare Association in Diaspora over the weekend at Ekwulobia township stadium, Aguata Local Government Area, Anambra State.

Jonathan was quoted as saying , “Ebonyi State people have contributed immensely towards the success of my administration with Senator Anyim Pius Anyim and Dr. Onyebuchi Chukwu as Secretary to the Federal Government and Minister for Health respectively ….”

Odogwuemekaodogwu.blogspot.com reports that he however announced the appointment of the President of Ebonyi Indigenes Welfare Association in Diaspora, Chief Michael Nwani Nwangwu as the South-East Vigilance security coordinator, tasking him to work round the clock in making sure that the people of the South-East sleep with their two eyes closed. 


Contributing, the Special Adviser to President Goodluck Jonathan on Ethics and Values Mrs Sarah Jibrils tasked Ebonyi State indigenes in Diaspora to always do away with anything capable of dragging their ethics to the mud,

Jibril represented by Comrade Ogbaji Raphael, regretted that some of the youths across the nation have abandoned the good stuff they were supposed to be made of, only to engage in criminality, the action, which he said, brings reproach to the nation and to our respective families.


In his address of welcome, the President of Ebonyi Indigenes Welfare Association in Diaspora, Chief Michael Nwani Nwangwu, said the Association was formed to champion the common course of Ebonyi people living outside Ebonyi state as a tool geared towards re-evolution and overall refinement of the entire people of Ebonyi State in Diaspora by reducing the ridicule before now associated with Ebonyi.

Nwangwu, known as Agunechemba 1 of Isu Onicha local government of Ebonyi state is a member of Strike Force Vigilante Services and later changed to Scorpion squad before changing to AVG, Anambra state Vigilante Group with him as Coordinator Anambra South Senatorial zone. He is also a member of Ethics and values Abuja.

He said the Association is to chart a new course for Ebonyi people, assist in bringing peace and unity as well as foster hard work and patriotism and would deal with any member caught in crime decisively and to promote the image of Ebonyi positively where ever they are.   

Expressing apperception to God for having brought his people under one umbrella at last, the vigilance security guru, made it categorically clear that the Association is non-partisan, even as he urged all the sons and daughters of Ebonyi State in Diaspora to identify with the Association, maintaining that many talents in different fields of endeavour are going to be discovered and tapped amongst the good Ebonyi people.

Reacting to questions from journalists at the venue, the national supervisor of Ebonyi Indigenes Welfare Association in Diaspora, Chief Nelson Okeke, said they have played major role in restoring the dignity of Ebonyi State indigenes in Diaspora within two years of the existence of the Association.

The National Public Relations Officer of the body Prince Dennis Normal Nwamini Alede said the gathering was to chart a common course but said it was difficult convincing their people as they were not in the same line of business to be part of their brotherly outing but expressed gratitude the gathering was a success.
He said the Association has been registered with Corporate Affairs adding that the National President Chief Michael Nwani Nwangwu  donated a 14 seater L300 bus for sensitization to al Ebonyi indigenes wherever they are. He said they have offices in almost all the local government areas in the Anambra state.
Prince Alede appealed for assistance to enable them buy a land for a town hall in various states of South East for a start , another 14/18 seater bus and an office complex at Abuja even as he said there is need for a cash of five million (N5 Million) for a radio weekly programme for Ebonyi people.  


The chairman of the Planning committee , Chief nelson Okeke and a member who is also a media consultant Maureen Edward known as Aisha,  commended the solidarity from their country men to the union and warned against any Ebonyi man or woman indulging in any thing that would tarnish the image of Ebonyi as they would help in dealing with the person and called for love and being one another’s keeper art all times in order to move forward.  
Anambra state Governor, Chief  Willie Obiano in a goodwill message expressed gratitude that Ebonyi state people could organize themselves together and encouraged them to ensure their citizens are not part of atrocities or armed robbery as well as kidnapping in Anambra as they would enjoy equal opportunities and leverages as Anambra people once they are law abiding and patriotic, urging them to assist report criminal activities around them to the nearest law enforcement agents. 

Highlight was distribution of Keke Na Pepe  to members and agreement for learning of arts and trade  by other members who have no means of livelihood to avoid being lured to crime by the National President Chief Nwangwu who said it will be a continuous event until everybody from Ebonyi is engaged.


In his good will message the Ebonyi state Governor , Chief Nwancho Elechi expressed gratitude that his subjects in Anambra state are united and doing everything within their reach to improve on the image of the state rather than reduce its glory by engaging in demeaning acts.  He urged them not to relent and always call on him whenever the need arises for fatherly support and advice.
