Nigeria U-20 W o m e n ’ s
team(Falconets) Chief Coach, Peter Dedevbo has been named as a contender for
the FIFA World Coach of the Year Award.
The Canada 2014 World Cup Silver
winning Coach, is among the 10 coaches shortlisted by World football ruling
body for the coach of the year for Women’s Football 2014.
Dedevbo, the only African tactician
named in the list, will battle national team coaches, Philippe Bergeroo of
France, Laura Harvey of England, Germany’s Ralf Kellermann and Norio Sasaki of
Japan for the prestigious diadem.
Other national team coaches
shortlisted for the award includes; Germany’s U-20 national team Coach, Maren
Meinert, Pia Sundhage of Sweden, Asako Takemoto Takakura of Japan, Jorge
Vilda of Sapin and Martina Voss Tecklenburg who is in charge of Germany and
Switzerland national teams.
Meanwhile, Abby Wambach of USA,
Nadine Angerer of Germany , Veronica Boquete from Spain , Japanese Aya Miyama
and Brazil’s Marta has been shortlisted for the FIFA Ballon d’Or 2014.
Also mentioned in the Women’s
shortlists are Nadine Kessler of Germany, Nilla Fischer from Sweden, France’s
Loiusa Necib and Sweden’s Lotta Schelin.
