‘’We Are Moving No Where’’, Anglican Bishops React Individually To Demolished N50 Million Anglican Church At Nkwere Ezunaka
The demolished N50 Million Anglican Church at Nkwerre Ezunaka by suspected members of the Catholic Church led by the President General of the community is attracting condemnations from all quarters but now from the Archbishops and Bishops on the diocese of on the Niger.
They met and after their meeting came in droves to see things for themselves and what did you expect. Read and see what he Bishops said
For Most Reverend Christian Efobi of Aguata diocese/Archbishop on the Niger,’’ All the bishops, their wives and clergy are here today to see things for ourselves on this demolition and it is unfortunate. We however condemn the act and we ask the Anambra state government through our amiable Governor Willie Obiano to come to our aid in the name of God.
‘’We want them to fish out the perpetrators of this evil act. We are not here to talk of compensation because we are moving no where. God has given us this place and we must worship Him here in truth and in spirit.
We call on our people to be very peaceful and not to be destructive. We do not want to shed any blood. God through His son has given us peace. So we call for peace.
Our stand is that government should come and tell us what happened to our church. We are here to identify with our brothers, diocese on the Niger on what has happened because this is injury to one which is injury to all. I enjoin our people to pray harder for with prayer, God will do everything for us’’.
And on his part the weeping Bishop on the Niger Most Rev’d Owen Nwokolo in tears and agony for an avoidable waste said, ‘’My surprise is that people are building churches here and there in this state and nobody has harassed them but here that we have the right to build, a place that was given to us by the owners of the land, they are coming to harass us.
It is very unfair and government is saying that we should move to another place where we will be given C of O within 24 hours and I ask, why cant they give us C of O here. Is it because we are Anglicans, I don’t expect the governor. Who, we elected to be treating us this way.
The most vocal Bishop and a Televangelist Most Rev’d Ephraim Ikakor of Amichi diocese said,’’ Let government stop intimidating us through their provocative words for we cannot be intimidated. Let the perpetrators of this act be fished out. We are not shifting any ground. This is our church and we are not moving anywhere’’.
And the authority of the Church legally , the Chancellor of the diocese on the Niger, Nnamdi Ibegbu (SAN) said, ‘’Government handed this school over to us and it was gazzetted in no 196. The name is Oyolu Eze Primary school. You can go and verify. Government gave us the school to administer and apart from that, the owners of the land gave it to us under native law and custom on a paper and we did all traditional rites about the land. The land was given to us by Oze Village, Nkwelle Ezunanka.
