War In Onitsha South Legislature Over Money From IGR, As Members Accuse Leader Of Ineptitude

                    

Internally Generated Revenue of the Onitsha South Local government area is tearing the council apart. Of the 76 IGR windows in the council area , only 20 were advertised for bidding while 50 were said to have been diverted.

The members of the Legislature are saying their leader is conniving with the council chairman to deprive them of their entitlements.

   There was a mild fracas in Onitsha South Local Government Legislature today when majority of members accused the house leader Mr. Fredrick Ezenwa of Ineptitude, Impunity, Corruption and engaging in undemocratic practices in the running of the house and called on the State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano and the State House of Assembly to intervene and restore order.

Also the members of the house alleged that house leader is conniving with the executive chairman of the Council, Lady Ann Chukwuneke to sideline the house in the day to day running of the local government.

Briefing newsmen on this development immediately after their session at the Onitsha South Local Government Headquarters, the house deputy leader, Hon. Emeka Akanegbu flanked by Honourable Obianuju Odianma, Hon. Uwazuoke Nzukwe on behalf of other councilors told newsmen that the house leader has been running the house without regards to rules and has been tampering with days of sittings with impunity all in a bid to muzzle the house to be inefficient.

Explaining that their agitations is for the house to be allowed to perform its statutory functions, they stated that the house leader has been a clog in realization of this objective as he has been sabotaging the house through his conduct.

While recounting that the leader has been working against the house, they gave an account of recent invitation of the local government supervisor for finance to brief them on the status of the local government internal generated revenue window and was told that all of them is 76.

They said they were surprised that during the biddings for the IGR that only 20 were advertised for biddings, they alleged that when they enquired about the whereabouts of the other 50 and wanted to summon the executive chairman for an explanation, that the leader used his position to scuttle that.

They said that when they  for   an instant  invited the supervisor for Finance to brief them on number of internal generated revenue (IGR) window of the local government and they were told that it was 76 in all. 

Surprisingly, he said that they became amazed when the local government advertised for bidding only 20 IGR and that when they tried to summon the executive chairman to explain about the remaining 50 IGR windows that the leader frustrated it and that up till now that the account of internal generated window (IGR) is yet to be accounted for.
