Hundreds of angry women and youths adorning black attire in
Sanga local government area of Kaduna state this afternoon attacked the convoy
of the state governor, Alhaji Mukhtar Yero when he visited the area.
Today, Monday was the first time Yero was visiting to commiserate with the people over the recent invasion of some communities by armed Fulani herdsmen on Wednesday last week which led to the killing of about 50 people, including three soldiers.
He visited with over 500 armed soldiers, 200 police men even as over 5000 people have been killed in Southern Kaduna by terrorist while the state government has done little about it.
But the governor’s media aide, Mallam Ahmed Maiyaki denied the incident, describing it as mischievous.
The women were said to have dressed half naked in black attires, and together with the youths attempted to block the governor from entering the area, accusing him of neglecting them and for allowing his Fulani brothers to unleash mayhem on them.
He got to the area amidst heavy rain, but the women and youths were said to have defied the rain and trooped out to the road awaiting the governor.
A community leader in Karshin Daji, one of the communities that were attacked last week said on telephone that the governor’s visit was not out of concern for the plight of the people but it was for his selfish political interest.
