I have noticed with
sadness the current attack on the person of Chief Victor Umeh.
This is not without
intention to cast slur on his electoral chances. I pray that those doing this
should have a rethink because they are not the only one who know how to rubbish
people.
The unfortunate thing is
that those involved in this campaign of calumny are members of APGA. Members of
opposing parties have great regard for Sir Umeh's political skill. A
prophet is not without honour among his people. A lot of Umeh's detractors have
been threatening fire and brimstone that if he takes the plunge they will
rubbish him.
They have accused him
also of misleading His Excellency, Governor Obiano as if the governor has
no mind of his own.
They accuse him of
micromanaging the party. But we are not disturbed, for APGA faithful knows who
their true leader is. But a sound of warning to them, threatening to rubbish
the man, we are not ignorant of the face behind the mask. If they do not want
to apply civility we will be compelled to return fire for fire. We are in the
know of secrets that will expose the modern day saints.
Victor Umeh may have his
faults as a human being but it looks like these people are bent on magnifying
them. No man is infallible including the face behind the mask. In fact he has
too much of it.
As for the central
senatorial race which is a race between APGA and the PDP, ndi Anambra are not unsure who
to vote for. Victor cannot compare with any of those touted as likely
candidates. Umeh is the man needed by the people for the following reasons.
a) He is bold. He
has the language. He thinks on his feet. He is loyal, at least his
reverence to Ikemba even in death is a clear case. He is a rewarder of
excellence. He is an Igbo man to the core. He is street wise. He is not a
money guzzler and miserly like some. He has got the experience required
for the job. he is generous. He may be a bit vengeful, but even that is not
altogether bad. At least he does not mask that. You will know where not to
cross him.
If not for anything he
has labored so much for APGA, standing each time in the dock to
defend the party's mandate. He led the fight in Imo to make that
state an APGA state not minding that erratic Rochas was too much in a hurry to
lead everybody, including the entire country.
I weep for those writing
nonsense against Umeh because of politics. Can they compare him with the
slut seeking to represent herself and her chain of flings? Can they
compare him with the one who has chosen to go slavery to the interest of
the Yoruba? All what fair comment. The race will be interesting and the best
will surely emerge.
Sir Victor has always
emerged victorious even against severe odds. He will triumph in no distant
time.
