Indications emerged that the Peoples
Democratic Party, PDP, may again lose Anambra State in the 2015 general
elections should its national leadership fail to quickly resolve the long drawn
crisis in the state chapter of the party.
Addressing reporters in Awka, some
stakeholders and members of Emma Nwaeze-led faction of the party, called on the
national chairman, Alhaji Muazu, to urgently wade into the crisis and resolve
the problem.
Spokesman for the group, Mr.
Chukwudi Okasie, specifically appealed to the national leadership of the PDP to
dissolve the present state executive on October 24 when its tenure would
expire, threatening that they would go to court if a factional chairman, Chief
Ken Emeakayi, continued to parade himself as state chairman after that date.
“The PDP is in confusion because we
have two factions and based on this in the 2015 general elections, the PDP has
less than 50 per cent chances of winning the state.
“We were elected under the Emma Nwaeze executive which Emeakayi served as a vice chairman before he arrogated to himself the chairmanship of the party.

“Our tenure expires on Ocober 24
this year and we expect the national leadership to set up a caretaker committee
before a proper congress could be conducted,” he said.
The group, which accused Emeakayi of
anti-party activities by working against the PDP governorship candidate, Mr.
Tony Nwoye, in the last governorship election, warned that if he was not
stopped in his present court matter aimed at elongating the tenure of the
out-going executive, the party would again be compromised in the general
elections.
“We are equally calling on the reconciliation committee chairman, Alhaji Amadu Ali, to investigate the matter and invite us to a round table reconciliation,” he said.
