Ecobank Plc has allegedly sacked a female staff (names withheld) posted at Anambra state University
Teaching Hospital Awka now known as
Emeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital Awka for decrying the
attitude of medical personnel in the hospital during the just concluded strike
by Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), odogwuemekaodogwu.blogspot.com gathered.
The hospital before now is known as Amaku General
Hospital Awka . Trouble started when shortly after the call off of the NMA strike
, the lady in question who was posted to the hospital to collect money from
clients of the hospital as all transactions are now in banks was unhappy that
patients would come to the hospital and they would not be attended by the
medical personnel after payment and stopped collecting money from them in the
interim.
The question is was she sacked for raising alarm
over injustices and unfair attitude of medical personnel at the hospital as
people would pay but will not access medication and attention or was there
something else behind the scene?
The news got to the Medical Director , Dr Lawrence Ikeakor who queried his staff but they claimed they
were working and he was livid with the Ecobank staff on why she should be an
interloper . He reported the act to the management of Ecobank and before you
could say Jack Robinson she was sacked.
Odogwuemekaodogwu.com tried getting to the girl in
question to hear her side of the story but all efforts to get her speak failed
even as authorities in Ecobank said they have no authority to speak to the
press on the issue.
Almost all the staff of the hospital appealed to
speak on the issue kept numb appearance to avoid being seen speaking to the
press.
The Medical Director of the Hospital phone was not
on as at the time of sending this report but this mater would be investigated
further to get the girl speak her ordeal
and what led to her sack and the hospital role……………………………..
