The Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, His Lordship Most Rev. Dr.
Paulinus Chukwuemeka Ezeokafor is appealing to citizens and residents in
Anambra state to come out en mass for collection of their permanent voters card and revalidate in the ongoing exercise.
Bishop Ezeokafor who is championing the enlightenment campaign for
the permanent voter’s card registration and revalidation exercise, charged
Roman Catholic members to take the lead.
Bishop Ezeokafor made the call at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Awka
while interacting with Newsmen called on eligible voters in the state to troupe
out and participate in the forthcoming permanent voter’s card registration and
revalidation exercise.
Bishop Ezeokafor said it was important for Anambrarians to
participate actively in the exercise as its outcome would determine what the
state would benefit from federal government.
According to him, ‘Since the voters exercise would be used for
delineation of constituencies in the state, it is important that we go all out
and participate in the exercise.
‘This is the time for the people of the state to actualize their
dreams of having the power to vote people of their choice. Let us ensure that
all those whose names are in the voter’s register collected their permanent
voters’ card while those who have attained 18years or did not register in the
past do so now,’ Bishop Ezeokafor appealed.
The Bishop charged the Awka Diocesan Parish Priests, to carry out
sensitization programmes in their parishes to educate the congregation on the
need to turn out en masse and participate fully in the exercise.
