Tears In Anambra As Late Prof Dora Akunyili Arrives Awka ; Obiano’s Wife Wept Profusely As Gowon, Obasanjo, Obiano Others Pay Tribute

          

It was all tears for almost everybody at the Women Development Center Awka ,Anambra state where the remains of the former Nigerian Minister for Information and Communication, late Prof Dora Nkem Akunyili, arrived and were  received by the State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, Speaker of Anambra State House of assembly, Hon. Chinwe Nwaebili, the national Chairman of APGA, Chief Victor Umeh among other Stakeholders, reports odogwuemekaodogwu.blogspot.com.

Dora’ body arrived Anambra State Women Development Centre, Awka by 2:09 pm in a brown golden casket in company of her husband, Dr. Chike Akunyili, her children and other family relatives.
It was encomium after encomium as tears were allowed to flow freely in the centre which was filled to the brim by friends, colleagues and family relations as well as mourners and sympathizers of her husband and family.

The dignitaries that paid tribute included: the former Nigerian President and commander in Chief of armed forces, Gen. Yakubu Gowan, wife of the former president of Nigeria, Mrs Bola Obasanjo, Chief Victor Umeh, Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano and his wife Chief Mrs Ebele Obiano, Mrs Josephine Aninih, Prof Chukwuemeka Ike, traditional rulers council, presidents General, Association of Anambra State Entertainment Practitioners, pharmaceutical society of Nigeria, women groups among others too numerous to mention.

In his tribute, Gen. Gowon described Dora as the greatest gift God gave Nigeria and enjoined Nigerians to emulate her in humility, honesty, intergrity, sincerity of purpose and service to humanity.
“Dora achieved a lot in Nigeria and I think we should at this time be rejoicing for what she did for Nigeria, Africa and the world and let us strive at all times to emulate her in order to make our country great” he said.

The State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano while expressing his deepest feelings described the deceased as a shooting star whose dazzling sparkles illuminated the universe while she lived.
“She led the life like someone who had the premonition that she is going to die and that is why she applied herself to every sense of mission and urgency to every office she held. I was about naming her an ambassador Plenipotentiary before she gave up” while his wife, Mrs Obiano who threw emotions to the winds and wept uncontrollably while paying her tribute sees Dora as someone whose life read meaning to others.
