Contrary to insinuations that the former Governorship candidate of
Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA) in Anambra state, Mr. Godwin
Chukwunenye Ezeemo has defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the
Umuchu born politician last week, debunked the insinuations, saying that his
eulogy to President Goodluck Jonathan on his transformation agenda has nothing
to do with party affair.
Mr. Ezeemo who made this clarification in Awka when he paid a courtesy visit to the new Bishop elect of Awka catholic Diocese, Monsignor Jonas-Benson Okoye, however called on the good people of Anambra state and his party men to disregard the rumour while describing those peddling the rumour as rumour mongers and confused politicians.
“For me, there is nothing wrong in lauding Mr. President in what he is doing, that does not in any way signify exit from my party. I am proud of my party which is PPA and I don’t want to play second fiddle but the truth is that we are all supporting President Jonathan as he is the only person in the race at the moment that can help the people.
“He is a good man and a democrat to the core. So, let us give him a chance to conclude what he has started. I am solidly behind his second term bid” he said.
On his reason for the courtesy visit, he said he may not be in the country when Monsignor Okoye will be consecrated a bishop and decided to congratulate him in advance for his Episcopal ordination that comes up on August 29, 20014.
Recall that Pope Francis announced the appointment of Mosingor Jonas-Benson Okoye, the auxiliary Bishop of Awka Diocese on May 30th 2014.
Ezeemo, who is also the Publisher of Orient Daily Newspaper thanked Pope Francis for appointing Mosignor Okoye a catholic bishop which he said will aid evangelism get to all the nooks and crannies of the State.
He thanked the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev. (Dr.) Paulinus Ezeokafor for creating Umuchu Catholic Deanery and intensifies call for the creation of Aguata catholic diocese which, according to him will help in the spread of the gospel.
“The larger the church expands, the better for the people. As a lay man, I would rather suggest that Aguata Catholic Diocese be created also as they did in the Anglican church as that will aid in the spread of the gospel. If a bishop is closer to the grassroot people, he will have the feeling of what the people want and work towards satisfying their yearning” he urged.
