APGA Member, Hon Afam Ogene Escaped Lynching From Constituents Over Attempted Decamping To PDP; Exonerates Former Anambra Governor ,Mr Peter Obi Of Plotting Defection To PDP
Former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi has no
hand in the planned mass defection of the All Progressives Grand
Alliance (APGA) members of the House of Representatives from Anambra
State to Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), odogwuemekaodogwu.com gathered now
from the member representing Ogbaru Federal Constituency in House of
Representatives , Mr Afam Ogene.
Ogene told odogwuemekaodogwu.com shortly after
his meeting with the members of APGA in Atani, headquarters of Ogbaru Local
Government Area of Anambra State, where he denounced dumping APGA
for PDP even as his constituents literally lynched him for even attempting to
dump APGA for PDP which he denied ever thinking in that direction.
Ogene whose speculated planned move to join PDP
attracted the lashing of his party members in Ogbaru Federal Constituency during
the meeting announced to the cheering of the ward executives of the party that
he remained a bona-fide member of APGA and therefore has no intention to
dump APGA for any other party.
Odogwuemekaodogwu.com reminded that four members
of APGA House of Representatives from Anambra State led by Mrs Uche
Ekwunife had even visited the National chairman of PDP intimating him
their readiness to dump APGA for PDP and just last week former Governor of the
State, Peter Obi, resigned his chairmanship of Board of Trustees (BOT) of APGA.
Ogene said he has never had meeting with the
former Governor where he (Obi) cajoled or tried to influence him to join PDP in
his native Anambra State.
He said “I have never been at any meeting where the
former Governor, Peter Obi tried to coerce, induce, beg, appeal or cajole any
of us to join PDP. Even in his press Statement issued only two or three days
ago, he did restate that he remained a member of All Progressives Grand
Alliance”.
He said it was true that Presidency had invited those
of them; APGA members from Anambra State in the House of Representatives to
contest the coming election in PDP as a way of supporting President Goodluck
Jonathan’s presidential ambition.
But the legislator said that they have had talks with
GovernorWillie Obiano and the leadership of APGA who reasoned that APGA is not
presenting a presidential candidate in 2015 because of their support for
Jonathan, but they cannot eclipse the party because of their support for
President’s ambition.
To that extent, the party has decided to contest every
position in 2015 except the presidential election as a mark of support
for President Jonathan’s ambition.
He told the party members from the Local Government
that he can beat his chest that, he has represented them well in the Lower
House, which they attested to and want to return to complete his
programme for the Federal Constituency.
Ogene said he has lifted the bar of political
representation in the constituency by providing skill acquisition and jobs for
the youths of the Federal Constituency, that anybody coming after him must
start from where he stopped.
The Chairman of the party in the Local Government,
Pastor Onwoelie Obiora, who allowed most ward chairmen to air their views on
Ogene’s botched exit from APGA however, commended the legislator for his
achievement so far especially his humility and ability to come down to the
level of the grassroots.
He also commended the APGA members for coming out
en-masse during the collection of Indepedent National Electoral Commission
(INEC) permanent voters’ card, reminding that the most important one is the
registration of new voters in August20, 2014.
