Assistant Inspector-General, AIG Suleiman Abba, has emerged as the new Inspector-General of Police odogwuemekaodogwu.blogspot.com reports.

He will succeed the outgoing IGP, Mohammed Dikko Abubakar, who retires today from office after 35 years of service. Abba is currently in charge of Zone 7 of the Nigeria Police before his elevation. His entry and exit of Louis Edet House , headquarters of Nigerian police today was a confirmation to that.

AIG Abba’s appointment was made public at the Federal Executive Council, FEC meeting Tuesday. The meeting was presided over by President Goodluck Jonathan. The incoming IGP was the Aide-de-Camp, ADC to Maryam Abacha when Gen Sani Abacha was in power. He is from Jigawa state.
Abba had served as the Commissioner of Police in charge of Rivers State, Deputy Force Secretary, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Deputy Force Secretary), and Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of State CID, FCT Police Command.

If President Jonathan announces the appointment of Abba , then the careers of all the Deputy Inspectors General of Police have ended as they would not take orders from their junior.
