Breaking News : Trailer Crushes 6 Dead In Amawbia , Anambra ,Many Injured

Odogwuemekaodogwu.blogspot.com reports exclusively that it was all tears, wailing and lamentation for residents of Amawbia, Awka and Nise when a trailer crushed into an Eastern Mass Transit Bus at Mmili Mpoto now Hausa colony along Amawbia Nise Ekwulobia road about 5:47 Pm killing about 6 passengers at the spot and injuring many others. 

The Eastern Mass Transit was Nnewi Bound from Awka via Amawbia and allegedly loaded at Awka pit and was negotiating a sharp bend near the suya joint after police check point near Nibo /Nise St Paul’s Secondary School when a oncoming  lowboy Trailer from Ekwulobia end used in carrying caterpillars for road construction launched its tail on the Eastern Mass Transit Bus tearing the bus on speed apart.

Efforts to speak with the Sector command Anambra , Mr Hyginus Omeje on the number of deaths and casualty rate was unsuccessful as he did no pick his calls and the PPRO , Anambra police command , Mr Emeka Chukwuemeka was putting his phone busy for over an hour odogwuemekaodogwu.blogspot.com was trying to reach them.

 

But a bread seller Amaka , Okada rider who identified himself as Kenneth and another  eye witness an Hausa man Dauda when the incident happened all said the accident was avoidable if either of the vehicles were on normal speed. They blamed the trailer and the driver  of being on high speed even while negotiating a sharp bend.

They alleged the trailer was on speed to avoid the police at the joint from extorting money from him while Eastern Mass was negotiating so close as if ordinary vehicle was passing by.

They confirmed 6 people died on the spot but official sources were not forthcoming on casualty figures as at press time.

Meanwhile the injured have been rushed to hospitals in and around Awka  while the corpses of the dead were deposited in morgues in Awka even as hundreds of sympathizers have thronged the area for possible assistance and recognition of either the injured or the dead.
