Odogwuemekaodogwu.blogspot.com reports
that there is intense pressure on the former governor of Anambra State, Mr.
Peter Obi, to decamp from the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, to the
ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Sources said in Awka yesterday that
pressure had been mounting on Obi to decamp from his party, in view of alleged
strained relation between him and his political godson, Chief Willie Obiano.
However, Obi’s Media Assistant, Val
Obienye, said his principal would not dump APGA as he had no reasons to so.
Obienye had been asked to comment on
news making the rounds that Obi planned to decamp from APGA, along with some
members of the House of Representatives, including Mrs. Uche Ekwunife and Emeka
Mogbo, among others.
He, however, said that the pressure
on Obi to decamp from the party did not start yesterday as late President Umaru
Yar’Adua had also tried unsuccessfully to lure him out of APGA.
‘’The former governor has made it
clear that he will not leave APGA for any party. His body language does not
suggest so.
“Late President Yar’Adua did his
best to get him out of APGA but did not succeed. The former governor has
character. He is not planning to do such a thing.
‘’It is also not true that he (Obi)
has any quarrel with the governor of Anambra State, Chief Obiano. There is no
need for that. Obi handed over power to Obiano for good. Since he handed over
power to Obiano, he has not travelled to Anambra State. He has nothing to
quarrel with Obiano for because, he has no pending issue or issues.’’
