Boko Haram: Emulate Niger Delta Militants, Embrace Amnesty-Anambra Community Leader Tells Insurgents

odogwuemekaodogwu.blogspot.com reports that a community leader in Anambra Stste, Prince Hez Chiemeka Okonkwo has appealed to Boko Haram insurgents to stop killing innocent Nigerians but to be bold enough to tell the federal government what they actually wanted as the militants in the Niger Delta did which he said led to the establishment of Niger Delta Ministry, Niger Delta Development Corporation (NDDC) and amnesty granted to them.

Prince Okonkwo was speaking at St Andrew's Church, Lilu during the Second Synod of the Diocese of Ihiala. He said what Nigerians should do under the present security challenge was to earnestly seek the face of God as he described the killings and bomb attacks by the insurgents as abnormal and sheer madness.

"It is madness for some people to decide to be killing their fellow humanbeings for the sake of politics, religion or whatever reason. We don't know what these people want because they have not come out to say this is what they want and that alone would be the beginning to the solution of the problem. They feel that it is by killing humanbeings that they could be heard.

"When the Niger Delta were agitating they were able to say that oil is coming from their place but that they are being neglected and that brought about the the establishment of the Niger Delta Ministry, Niger Delta Development Corporation and amnesty was granted to the militants and that problem has been solved. So, we are expecting the Boko Haram insurgents or their sponsors to toe the same path of dialogue and stop the killings," Prince Okonkwo said.

The politician who is also the President-General of Lilu community and the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Amitech Inter-global Engineering Limited said Nigeria would never be fragmented because of the activities of the insurgents.

On the Chibok girls still in captivity, Prince Okonkwo said his heart always bled each time the incident was mentioned, adding "but the Jonathan I know is not someone who will like to look back when he is pursuing anything for national interest and from the little I know, government has made and is still making a tremendous effort to see that the girls are released."
