Buba was the paramount ruler of Ganye Kingdom and the woman emir of Arnado Debbo, as well as the only village head of the fairer sex in Adamawa State, was said to be the “seventh woman ruler after Gangwum Subsanin blazed the trail 250 years ago”.

Buba was the village head of Dimgyeb in Sugu District of Ganye Chiefdom in Ganye local government area and was appointed the Nya-Gangwou (village head) on May 1, 2005.
Buba died on Sunday in her residence after a brief illness. Her death was confirmed by the public relations officer of the Ganye Traditional Council, Alhaji Ishaku Babidi. Buba, whose age was not specified, has long been buried according to Chamba ethnic rites.

Another version of the story

The Female Emir of Arnado Debbo, Gangwun Astadikko Buba Dimgyeb, Ma-Astadikko Buba has died in her residence on June 8.
The only female village ruler in Adamawa, was said “to be the seventh women ruler of after Gangwum Subsanin blazed the trail 250 years ago”
Buba was the village head of Dimgeb in Sugu District of Ganye Chiefdom in Ganye Local Government area, she was appointed the Nya-Gangwou (village head) on May 1, 2005.
The woman has died on Sunday in her resident after a brief illness, this information was confirmed by the Public Relations Officer of Ganye Traditional Council, Alhaji Ishaku Babidi. Buba, whose age was not specified, was buried according to Chamba tribe traditions.
The reason why women take on a more prominent role in the village lies in the fact that men usually died within three months of ascending the throne.
And when the fifteen male ruler died, a woman, Gangnwum Subsanin, was tried in 1762 and stayed on for nine 9 years. Since then men have no qualms surrendering the right for ruling to women permanently.

And reactions to Leadership publication

Aminu Baba ---------- Do this reporter know the difference between an "Emir" and an ordinary village head? This is yet another shabby report from Leadership.
It is disrespectful to the culture and traditions of the north, which this reporter did not care to investigate, to refer to even a latter day 1st class chiefs as emirs, talkless of a village head, just because you want to make headlines. For the information of the gullible and the unwary, an Emir is a traditional ruler in one of the ruling houses who have received the flag either from Shehu Usman dan Fodio himself, or from his successor brothers.
These are the first class chiefs of the former northern provinces. I won't give him all the lectures, let the reporter go and research further on what constitutes the former northern provinces, before the creation of the twelve states by Yakubu Gowon.

Mohammed -------She is not the paramount ruler of Ganye Chiefdom...correction pls...and in Ganye...we have Gangwari Ganye...not Emir...because we choose to stick to our traditions not accepting d so called emir title even though its an old Chiefdom
