Obiano’s Fish Crusade Takes Another Dimension In Anambra State As Stakeholders Meet On How To Make Vision A Reality

The concept of the Fish Production project in the State is of World Class Standard. They have met severally but Thursday’s meeting that lasted for 5 hours is progressively  defining point, Governor Obiano is waiting for.

Odogwuemekaodogwu.com reports that some Stakeholders on Fish Production in Anambra state met with the Special Adviser to the governor of Anambra state on fisheries , Mr Emeka Iloghalu to discuss strategies for kicking off the Fish Production Project in line with mandate of Governor Obiano.

                  
Delivering the welcome address, Hon. Emeka Iloghalu, Special Adviser(SA) to the governor on Fisheries applauded the efforts of the Stake Holders and charged them to be steadfast as the governor Chief Willie Obiano's vision is to transform the fisheries sector and Agriculture at large.

He said," we all know that, his Excellency Chief Willie Obiano, the executive governor of Anambra State has defined his Vision for the state and he is building and developing the state based on four pillars. He called it, Anambra State Wheel Of Development.

‘’These four pillars are: Agriculture, Trade and Commerce, Industrialization and Oil and Gas. Now, the fishery sector falls within the Agriculture, but beyond that, one this sector is fully establish and certain standard are institutionalized, is going to have a direct impact on trade and commerce and also in industrialization and these are things we have started working on".

Mr. Iloghalu further revealed the success of the stake holders and said, "today, we advance on sorting out the structure that is strong and suitable for fishery institution in Anambra State. We started with getting the stakeholders in fisheries value chain in Anambra State and then, we assigned leaders to each of the segments in the fisheries value chain and after that, we also had another meeting and all together, collectively defined and made a vision and mission statement for each of the segments".

"And these will logically lead them to articulating project for each segment and this project will eventually be successful. So, this way, we're approaching the fisheries value chain/fisheries sector in Anambra State as a whole, without leaving anything out. So, this way, it will be easy for government, it will be very effective for government to see clearly were government role is needed, in terms of support".

He urged the stakeholders to participate actively in the discussions and steadfast so that at the end of the meeting they would all agree on workable arrangements for the kick-off of the Fish Production  project, even as he entreated the stakeholders in the deliberations to consider strategies and policies that should be adopted to boost local production, financial and implementation arrangements, and the roles for the major stakeholders in the fish production project.

Participants included Senior Special Adviser(SSA) to the governor on Agriculture Engr. Mike Okwuekwe, Permanent Secretary  Ministry of Agriculture, Dr. Madukwe, Ministry of Agriculture Mr. M.C Ezebialu and Mr. Emelie Onyejekwu Senior Special Adviser(SSA) to the governor on Budget among others.
