I Am The VC Now And I will Restore Discipline, Self Reliance and Excellence In Unizik , Says Prof Ahaneku

 Prof Ahaneku insisted that he would stop at nothing until the motto of Unizik is Discipline,  self reliance and excellence is restored in glory of the Great Zik of Africa and Owelle of Onitsha , Rght Hon Dr Nnamdi Chukwuma Azikiwe , odogwuemekaodogwu.com reports further. 

He said his stay for 24 years in the University starting from the days of ASUTECH and 4 years as DVC with Prof Boniface Egboka , out gone VC , odogwuemekaodogwu.com reports that he said has given him the privilege of knowing what to do to turn the University to number 10 in Africa and reputably recognized in the world class of Universities. 

Prof Ahaneku informed former speaker of Anambra state House of Assembly and Chairman of Conference of Speakers in Nigeria , Chief Anayo Nnebe who paid him a courtesy visit on behalf of the members of the Anambra delegates to the ongoing National conference  at Abuja that initially rejected his appointment but have accepted him now after critical examination of  the process that threw him up that he would champion economic empowerment of the students and institution through Technology driven courses for Graduates to be employers of labour rather than seekers of job.

He reminded that the University got tremendous support from former Governor Peter Obi and would like to continue to get such support even more from Obiano reminding that his administration as VC would be committed and dedicated to the core mandate of the university.    

  He said in the next 20 years all the professors in this part of country must have passed through Unizik for one thing or the other as only Unizik and UNN are the conventional Universities in the South East, adding that there is a programme in the University that is not done anywhere else in the country but Unizik. 

The new Unizik VC prayed to have men of goodwill to support his administration in entrenching the core values of teaching , research and community service in real terms of it with real University culture restored, reports odogwuemekaodogwu.com. He assured within a short time the university would be the way it should be world over . 

Prof Ahaneku described the former speaker’s visit as strengthening and thanked him , hoping that peace, unity , progress and development will be assured following his visit on behalf of the national conference delegates from Anambra state .

I have followed the trends from teetering stage to this level highly subscribed but we would maintain the legacies of the founding father of which the university is named after , the great Zik of Africa , we revere in term of excellence and governance. Two years ago I spoke on his legacies at Lincoln University of Pennsylvania on how Zik developed Africa to embrace civilization.

He insisted that having reviewed , having leant and having spoken about the legacies of Great Zik , the university under his watch cannot but maintain and retain the legacies of Zik  because according to him Zik lived for Africa and because he was a man of excellence , Unizik’s motto is discipline ,Excellence , and self reliance, odogwuemekaodogwu.com concludes.
