reports that the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Nnewi unit command in
Anambra State under the Assistant Corps Commander, Chinaza Ebuta has prosecuted
32 out of 34 road users who committed various traffic offences within the unit today.

corps constituted along Nnewi-Nnobi road were excited by the new enlightenment
campaign and hailed the FRSC.
FRSC just as it has
flagged off its mega public enlightenment campaign to join in the celebration
of Anambra State Sector Command road safety week, a weeklong programme that
started June 16, 2014. The state Corps Commander is Hyginus Omeje.
The flag off which was conducted by the Sole Administrator of Nnewi North Local
Government Area, Chief Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu (Jnr), witnessed rally train
round major roads in Nnewi to sensitize the public on road discipline, highly
major accident risk factors including riding motorcycles without safety
helmets, making calls while driving, driving without seatbelt and violation of
speed limits.
Road safety fliers were distributed at various junctions in Nnewi as the rally
which ended up at Ekwulobia.
Addressing the audience made up of road marshals, National Youth Service Corps
(NYSC) members and members of the civil society, ACC Ebuta explained that the
public enlightenment campaign was an enforcement strategy usually deployed by
the FRSC to stem the tide of road crashes and fatalities. He said the
FRSC also used the opportunity to educate the road users on expected driving
behavior during the rains.
The Sole Administrator who has formed a task force code-named Willie Work Force
in the Council Area said the task force was set up to assist the FRSC in
traffic control and road decongestion in Nnewi and assured the unit command
of the Council’s maximum assistance in the road traffic control.
