Odogwuemekaodogwu.com reports that Seventy one (71) days after being abducted by Boko Haram gunmen at Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State, another eight kidnapped school girls last Sunday escaped from the sect’s Sambisa Forest detention camp and hideout with the assistance of a camp security guard from Chibok township.
Lamenting their abductions and detention by gunmen, Ruth Thlama (not real name) in a telephone interview Tuesday said that it was the powers of God that touched the hearts of one of the Boko Haram members in the detention camp and Fulani people in the forest for eight girls to escape unhurt.
Chairman of Chibok council area, Ba’ana Lawan also confirmed the escape of eight abducted schoolgirls from Gandarma village, stating that the village Head has communicated the arrival of some girls on three motorcycles “hale and hearty” without any injury inflicted while escaping from the Boko Haram detention camp and hideout.
The Borno state police commissioner, Tanko Lawal also said that there was a report from the Chibok Divisional Police Officer (DPO) indicating that eight schoolgirls among the over 200 abducted ones have also escaped last Sunday, and had been joined with their parents in the village.
