Odogwuemekaodogwu.com reports that the third session of the second Synod of the Diocese of Amichi ,Anglican Communion has started today at the Immanuel Anglican Church Ekwulumili , Nnewi South local government area, Anambra state.

According to Bishop of the Diocese , The Rt. Rev’d. Ephraim Okechukwu Ikeakor   the theme of the synod is ‘’Who is on the Lord’s side?’’ and will be used to dissect the need for Christians to shun all forms of idol worshipping  and entangling with cultures alien to Christian practice.

Odogwuemekaodogwu.com informs that Bishop Ikeakor  will present his Presidential address on Saturday 7th June, 2014 which will be launched thereafter. The synod will be rounded off on Sunday 8th with a special thanksgiving service and projects development fund raising for the young diocese. The synod on arrival will embark on a courtesy visit to traditional ruler of the Ekwulumili community, His Royal Highness Igwe  G.O. Umeanadu, Ezeonyeoruru II on Wednesday. Synod plenary sessions will hold on Thursday and Friday.

Bishop Ikeakor who inspected  the premises of the Immanuel Church Ekwulumili in company of  members of the diocesan Synod Planning Committee expressed satisfaction on the level of preparedness on the part of the host church.

Odogwuemekaodogwu.com informs earlier in his address to the gathering, Bishop Ikeakor lamented that  “Christianity is losing its originality and taste as Christians are becoming nominal , secretive and compromised in their Faith”. He pointed out that the world is almost becoming uninhabitable by righteous people sequel to the level of idolatry which according to him is terrible in today’s Nigerian society.

Odogwuemekaodogwu.com further reports that reflecting  on the significance of the Ascension, Bishop Ikeakor remarked that  Jesus Christ has standard, preached holiness and truth , served the poor not the rich and was never moved by wealth unlike today’s Christians and Religious leaders held down by  the quest for wealth. He said wealth has beclouded the sense of reasoning and judgment of many Religious leaders.

‘’Ascension underlines the  certainty of the  kingdom of God because without ascension where would other Christians go’, warning that  nobody can contradict the bible …….’’.
Bishop Ikeakor decried that Christians are now sponsoring both Christian festivals and fetish festivals adding that it is regrettable that many Christians are no longer  the salt of the world Jesus Christ pronounced them hence every effort should be put in place to re-awaken the true spirit of Christianity in our time.
Bishop Ikeakor warned that any culture that crosses part with the preaching of the Holy Bible can’t be accepted in the diocese of Amichi immediately after the synod no matter how popular that culture may be adding that any member found to be involved in idolatry will be sanctioned after the synod.
The Amichi Bishop later at a press conference painted a beautiful picture of investments the diocese had embarked on since six years it was created but mainly on education, healthcare and agriculture which the diocese could be seen as flagship now in the three areas.

He expatiated his claims by informing that the diocese has over 10,000 life birds in its poultry at the Diocesan Integrated Farm worth over N80 Million, adding that they have started poultry feed manufacturing  and would soon start Grass cutter rearing among others even as the diocesan fish pond could contain over 30,000 fingerlings.

The diocesan hospital , he said is a flagship as over 28 patients undergo eye treatment most days including surgeries with all arms of an ultra modern hospital are working at full capacity.  He expressed appreciation to  Akulueuno Social club for donating its structure for the diocese to manage, odogwuemekaodogwu.com concludes.
