In a bid to better the lives of marginalized and disadvantaged Anambrarians at grass-roots, Care For The Physically Challenged and Destitute Foundation (CAPCADF), a-non Governmental organization that champions the course of persons with disabilities in the country, has empowered over one hundred persons across Anambra-West, Orumba-North and Awka-North local government areas of Anambra state for self-reliance and wealth creations.

The beneficiaries, rural farmers, traders and entrepreneurs who were in a-15 persons per a cooperative society, such as Ezi-Oyi (fish farmers), Okwa-Amaka (cassava farmers), Fruit of Life Nnewi farmers among others received monetary loans from CAPCADF after holistic training on promoting community accountability through participatory budgeting, held recently at Umuezeanam, Okoh and Awba-Ofemili communities under the tutorship of Mr. Uche Madubuko of Justice Development and Peace Commission (JDPC), Onitsha.

Disbursing the loans, Director of CAPCADF, Mrs. Gloria Nwafor charged recipients to prudently utilize the funds to actualize their dreams, noting that more would come in future, even as she called on both normal persons and physically challenged within the affected areas to team-up and form cooperative societies of any meaningful venture or sector so as to qualify for the grant.
Mrs. Nwafor, who reiterated her readiness to advocate, empower and monitor more Anambrarians to partake in governance and other decision or policy making bodies in Nigeria, further advised all the physically challenged persons in the state to register to their various associations for easy identification and access to any benefits accruing to them either through government or NGOs.
Also speaking, State Chairman of Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD), Mr. Ugochukwu Okeke, recalled amount of money, bus and other valuables former Governor Peter Obi doled to disables in the state through the group, in order to free them from the shackles of poverty or bondage of begging for alms.
In their separate speeches, Misters Elias Agbata and Edwin Udenze, and Mrs. Agnes Igbanugo and Pauline Ikebudu, vowed to reposition their lives with the knowledge and funds garnered from the workshop, as well as to cross pollinate absentee colleagues, neighbours, friends and well-wishers.
