The appointment of 19
commissioners and 10 Special Advisers into the state executive council on
Friday by Governor Willie Obiano yesterday illicited reactions from a cross
section of the state.
National Chairman of the All Progressives
Grand Alliance(APGA), Chief Victor Umeh expressed confidence in the caliber of
the newly appointed members of Anambra state executive council.
Umeh declared that they
are people with quality academic background and not just anybody but
people of substance and good background who have excelled in their fields of
endeavour.
He charged the
commissioners to work assiduously with the governor to consolidate on the gains
recorded to ensure that Anambra people continued to enjoy democratic divided
and good governance.
He said: “The state has
made giant strides in development, good net work of roads, good
facilities in our hospitals, schools, hospitals etc, they are already on on
ground, the people need more from you”, as he charged them to be loyal, and key
into his vision and policy trust.
The commissioner for
transport, Mr Chuma Mbonu, pledged to support the administration in revamping
and reforming the exiting modes of transportation in the state, even as he
promised to put in his best in the present efforts to move Anambra to nthe next
level.
Commissioner for special
Duties, Sir Norbort Obi, expressed the determination to justify the confidence
reposed in him, saying his appointment was a call to duty.
Mrs Ngozi Okonkwo in
charge for Internally Generated Revenue(IGR), urged people in Anambra to give
their required cooperation, and assured to work and help realize the governors’
vision of improving the state revenue.
However, Mr Olivre
Onwuchekwa who called himself a national commentator said the appointment was
long over due, and accused the new governor still engaged the ‘old and expired
hands’ rather than ordering them to hand over to permanent secretaries in the
Ministries. “I can not be carried away, I am not trilled with the late posting.
Its not new”.
Governor Obiano who swore in 19 commissioners into the state
executive council and 10 Senior Special Advisers on Friday charged them
to exhibit total loyalty to the administration and work hard to justify
their respective appointment.
The Governor strongly warned that he will not hesitate to sack any of the top officials found to be wanting in his/her duties, just as he urged them to work and abide by the oaths of allegiance and office which were administered on them under his (Obiano's) supervision.
