Is Baby Boy dead or
alive? That is the question on the lips of his wife and mother

--------Another victim
recounts how he was battered by the security men and called for public
intervention
Tension is the word in
Obosi, Idemmili North local government Area of Anambra state. Obosi is the former
Commonwealth Secretary, Chief Emeka Anyaoku’s home stead.
For every two days youths and community people
protest in search of one Mr. Tochukwu Nebo known as baby boy in Obosi and
environs.
He is loved and liked by
many for his daring spirit in safe guarding Obosi collective heritage as the
former Chairman of Obosi Land Management Committee. That investigations
confirmed was as a compensation for he role he played in enthroning Igwe A.C
Iweka as traditional ruler of Obosi kingdom.
He is from Ire village
and married 26 years old Chinenye with five children among whom are twins born
to the family on October 8, 2013. She is
a petty trader but all now is history as she does nothing now but going from
one pillar to one post asking for her husband’s whereabouts.
Baby boy disappeared since
16th December,2013 after allegedly being summoned to the Igwe’s
palace by the palace secretary. Already the father, Mr. Okwudili Nebo is
bedridden for unwanted stroke for sequel to fruitless efforts to locate his
son. The mother Christy Nebo is already showing signs of being afflicted by stroke or sort of ailment
associated with endless worry, only God can intervene. The children are hapless
and indeed missing their father especially the four moths old twins.
The family have written
several petitions to the Nigerian Police , State security services and all
other security agencies for intervention to no avail even the traditional ruler
and community leadership have been well intimated on the development. The
National Security Adviser have equally been written penultimate month for
intervention.
The petition by Hamilton
Ogbodo Esq of H.N Ogbodo and company solicitors to the family entitled ,’’ attempted murder, kidnapping and
unlawful detention by Jimmyrock Ikenwa (Onyeisi), Echezona Iweka , Okechukwu
Nkembuofo , Echezona Orakwute , Obiajulu Iwenofu, Jideofor Onwugbolu ,
Oluchukwu Obiegbu , Obi Asidanya and AC Iweka, implored the National Security
Adviser to arrest the aforementioned people to compel them to produce Okwudili
Nebo.
The petition stated that
some of the aforementioned are members of Obosi Vigilance group who called their client
and battered him through in public in full glare of people and later took him to the palace of their
sponsor and principal, Mr A C Iweka.
‘’Our clients further informed
us that when they plucked up courage to ask for the whereabouts of their son
they were informed that Mr A C Iweka handed them over to the officers of the
state security services Awka. We have gone to the office of the SSS at Awka but
they denied having our client’s son in their custody. We have equally sourced
all the police formations in the state without locating our client’s son.
‘’ Our clients believe that
these people have either killed their son or are detaining him in a secret
location to satisfy preparatory to killing him. Our clients’ belief is informed
by the antecedent of the above mentioned hoodlums masquerading as security men.
Our clients son was at the head of Mr A.C Iweka’s group during the Obosi
crisis, he was rewarded with the chairmanship of the Ime Obosi. During his
short tenure Mr A.C Iweka sought to use
him to eliminate his perceived enemies but he resisted this. On a particular
occasion he asked him to locate and bring one Anyachebelu to him but he refused
, this estranged him from Mr A.C Iweka , thereafter sacked him from his
position and commenced moves to eliminate him.
‘’Our clients belief is
also supported by a story in the Sunday Sun Newspaper of December 22 , 2013
page 15 where Mr A.C Iweka owned up that he sent the Obosi vigilance Group to
go after our clients son. He also confirmed that they brought him to his
palace. In the article he claimed that our clients son is a criminal and a torn
in his flesh. This is far from the truth , we enclose herewith pictures showing
how close A.C Iweka and our clients son before they fell out. We also have
video clips of their relationship to debunk claim that he was a criminal.
‘’Consequently, we
implore you to arrest these people and compel them to produce our clients son
who has been in their custody since the 16th day of December 2013.
Mr AC Iweka maintains that he can get away with any atrocity he commits because
of his connection and status’’, the petition concluded.
But his wife, Chinenye
with a heavy heart stated thus: “I saw my husband alias Baby boy last on 16th
December 2013. At exactly 7a.m that day, he left us to Igwe Iweka’s palace in
response to the Palace Secretary’s phone call ordering him to appear for a
brief meeting with the monarch. But thirty minutes later, a man ran to our
compound and informed us that Baby Boy was undergoing torture, beaten beyond
recognition by the security men attached to the Igwe.
“Immediately, I boarded
a bike (a commercial motorcyclist) searching for him only to discover him at
Anyafulu’s compound (house of the current Chairman of OLMC ); his hands were
tied back as the security men of Igwe boot him to and fro the ground under a
pool of blood gushing all through his body. I cried to them to find out what
truly transpired. But they ignored me, after some minutes, they threw him into
their vehicle and zoomed-off to Igwe’s palace where they further unleashed more
terror and pains on him under the supervision of their master, the traditional
Ruler.
“They fired shots on the
air throughout the operation in order to scare people away from the scene. But
I took courage and rushed to Igwe in heavy tears. I knelt before him, and
requested to know my husband’s sin. He ignored me too, and ordered the soldiers
to take him away. So, they left the place to unknown destination without
uttering a word to me”.
“Then, till now, I and
my family members are sleepless. We have searched him at all the police station
in Anambra state including SARS, SSS among others to no avail. Our fear is that
they have killed many youths of our town in a similar way. We don’t know what
else to do. Igwe and his cohorts should kindly release my husband. This is how
they have killed many of our youths. Ever since, a week hardly gone without
beholding some youths on rampage demanding for release of their abducted
beloved. We don’t know whether he is dead or alive. Also, we are yet to receive
a statement pointing to his destination, offence and if he is still alive or
dead”.
“Please, Igwe and his
men should release my darling. I have written many petitions to that effect but
none is yet to produce positive result as I keep hearing that some prominent
men of this town are sabotaging the investigation. But why? Why are they doing
this to my husband? Is it right to imprison or kill a Nigerian without trial or
investigation to discover and bring the culprits to book? This is injustice, if
I truly understand the state of the 1999 constitution of the federal republic
of Nigeria as amended”.
“I have been forced to
leave as a widow or a single parent; fending for self and our children. How could
I carter for these twins born October 8 last year, two months before my love
sudden disappearance. I have no source of livelihood again because my petty
trade is no more since this ugly incident.
“Please, the world,
government, civil liberty organizations, pressure groups, the media and other
relevant agencies should help me to see that justice prevail on this matter. No
one is above the law. I can’t afford to lose my darling at no course”.
Mother of Baby Boy,
Christy Nebo, called for a thorough interrogation to find out her son’s current
destination. She almost collapsed at the
course of this interview as her Blood Pressure (BP) rose to 250. She said that
her husband, Mr. Okwudili Nebo is now half-dead as he has been paralyzed by stroke
resulting from the bad news of the mass beating and disappearance of their son
in the hands of his beloved-Mr Iweka. She accused the palace security men of
maiming and killing innocent youths and that they have killed many youths. She
reminded that her son would have been killed on an earlier attack but he
escaped death by whiskers.
She said: ‘’I am calling
for his immediate release dead or alive by whoever is holding him.
Part two
Similarly, a prominent
son of Obosi community in Idemili-North council area, Anambra state, Prince
Emeka Ike Orizu who nearly lost his life on he hands of the Obosi vigilance
group is calling for a through investigation to all the alleged killings in the
community by a specialized security team from the presidency as those already
on the case have been allegedly bribed.
Prince Orizu bemoaned
what he termed suppression of investigation to unravel the rudiment of
incessant killings of youths in Obosi town, even as he stressed the needs for
the law enforcement agencies to bring the culprits to book.
He is worried that some appear to be above the law not minding it was otherwise as stated in
the 1999 constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria. He called on
prominent citizens of Obosi like the Former Secretary of the Commonwealth,
Chief Emeka Anyaoku, the Commandant of Federal Road Safety Commission
(FRSC) Osita Chidioka; and Chief Dan Chuke, Nigeria’s Former Minister of State
for Aviation to assist the town put a voice up calling for thorough
investigation of not less than 23 youths murdered in cold blood in Obosi and
have the culprits brought to book no matter how highly placed.
He alleged that Obosi has been on
bondage since inception of its incumbent monarch, HRH Igwe Chidubem Iweka, even
though he did not recognize him as such but called on him to stand to the
challenge . He wondered why those youths killed should be tagged cultists,
rapists, robbers among others.
Recounting how he was attacked 8th
November, 2011 by the hoodlums, Prince Orizu said: “See how these people go
about with costly rifles and ammunition. Over 200 men of special taskforce who
were militants formed by A.C.Iweka attacked me on 8th November while
I was returning home. The gang Leader told me that Iweka sent them to kill me
for refusing to support him to become our Traditional Ruler. Before, I could
utter a word, the boy slapped me, his gang members joined with blades and
weapons till I was left on the ground to die. Blood gushed all over my body as
you can see on that picture.
I am also demanding for justice over
my properties destroyed on 14th November 2012 during their
operation. They tore my wife’s clothes and naked my wife, brutalized her and my
mother beyond recognition, even as they arrested and brutalized my younger
brother, Dubem Charles Orizu. They must tell the world why they took such
decisive measure upon my household without investigation. I am calling on the
media, international liberty organizations, pressure groups, state and national
assemblies, the presidency among other interest groups to act, come and rescue
us-the people of Obosi kingdom before they would finish us”, Prince concluded.
His words: “ Over 23 indigenes of Obosi have been killed
in recent time. But only 3 families out of the deceased are currently in the
court and the press demanding for justice. You don’t just kill a person at no
course, no trial, just for a mere allegation leveled against them by Igwe Iweka
and his cohorts. I wondered why the SSS and his Special Taskforce infringes on
the rights of our people. Why can someone kill another without evidence of
offence or trial? They told you that someone is a rapist, drug pusher, robber
or whatever and you go ahead and shot the person dead just like that? What are
they using these corpses for-ritual or what?
“You can’t get peace in a camp of
injustice. Justice must prevail. The worst is that all these families have
petitioned the Federal and State Government, Security Chiefs, National and
State Assemblies with no positive result because my investigation showed that
each time a progress is about to be recorded likes of Osita Chidioka, Emeka
Anyaoku and Dan Chuke whose influence had never brought glory to Obosi
community except selfishness and evil, would order for a stop. They had nothing
to show for their prominence unlike our great men who popularized them such as
late Sir Godfrey Eneli, first Nigeria’s High Commissioner to Britain. He was
the one that recommended Emeka Anyaoku for Commonwealth. Mr. Ikechukwu Anekwu,
for instance, whose son, Obiesi was gruesomely murdered by Iweka is the head of
Oliobi family where Emeka Anyaoku hails from. Yet, he suppressed the
interrogation to unravel the culprits and root of Obiesie’s death. We are yet
to see his corpse since they claimed that he is dead. The miscreants who looted
his father’s properties are yet unknown. No compensation done, the butchered
mother is still in the hospital. Besides, the man is still on exile since 6th
December, 2012 till now.
