Onitsha Elders Recommend Barr. Ugochukwu Ezeani For Appointment As Commissioner

                                     
Onitsha Elders Forum has endorsed the former Chairman of Onitsha South LGA, Barr. Ugochukwu Ezeani, for commissionership in the forthcoming cabinet of Chief Willie Obiano, Anambra governor-elect.

It would be noted that Obiano would be taking over Anambra seat of government on March 17.

The forum made the recommendation in a communiqué issued to newsmen on Friday after an extensive meeting, which reviewed the activities of the former chairman in his two years in office.

It said that the former chairman had made history by employing 500 youths; while making sure that their salaries were paid as at when due.

``He was the first chairman who started the fumigation exercise against insects within the 21 council areas of Anambra.

``Ezeani constructed 200 culverts in all the strategic areas within 14 months in his administration.

``Maintained peaceful co-existence between indigenes and non-indigenes in Fegge, Oduapku, Woliwo communities that make up Onitsha South LGA, which are heterogeneous in nature.

``Worked assiduously with Gov. Peter Obi to dislodge hoodlums, who refused to allow the building of Ojukwu gateway, a state monument.

``Ezeani operated an open door policy, which allowed for a sound human relations and sustenance of positive image for the council,’’ it said.

The communiqué adopted this posture since we believe that when he is appointed as a commissioner, he would further showcase his sterling qualities in leadership and management for the benefit of Ndi-Anambra.

``Ndi-Anambra needed a tested and proven government technocrat, who can deliver with available scarce resources just like Gov. Peter Obi.

``A person that listens, a man of the people and someone with great potentials of ideas to move the state and her people to the next level,’’ it noted.
